UPDATE: Shawanaga Gas & Variety has REOPENED. (1:52pm)

Please be advised that there is currently an active vehicle fire at Shawanaga Gas & Variety. Highway 69 remains open. The parking lot remains closed.

For everyone’s safety, please stay away from the area and avoid the surrounding area if possible. Please allow emergency personnel and first responders the space they need to respond safely.

We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

CLEARED (12:20 p.m.): Highway 69 has reopened between Highway 124 in Parry Sound and Highway 522 in Pointe au Baril following a collision that resulted in two fatalities. OPP thanks the public for their patience while the on-scene investigation and clean-up efforts took place. ^pia
