Terry Fox Trail Ride raises more than $2,300
Battlefords Quarter Horse Club held the annual Terry Fox Trail Ride on Sunday, September 20.
More than 30 riders went out on the beautiful trails at Wheatfield Soul Equestrian Centre, west of the Battlefords, and raised $2,330 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
It was a beautiful day with warm temperatures and just enough breeze to keep the flies away. Following the trail ride there was a barbeque with hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and other goodies for about 40 people.
People attended the event from as far away as Denzel, Porcupine Plain and even one from Edson, Alberta. As always, it was a family friendly event with parents and children riding together and even some families with three generations riding together. There were children right up to 80-year-olds all on horseback.
This year there were no wagons, although there has been in the past. Some of the people who attended have been to all but a couple of the rides in the last 45 years that Battlefords Quarter Horse Club has sponsored the ride. Others were brand new to trail riding.
In those 45 years the club has raised close to $90,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Right photo: It was a walk-only trail ride, but that didn't stop Slice from bringing Levi in first after the approximately eight km ride. After fresh air and exercise all the riders and other guests were happy for the barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs.
