Your Senator of Cinnamon Buns is back in action, once again working tirelessly on behalf of the people 💁🏼‍♀️

Several of my devoted constituents have informed me that I had not experienced a proper cinnamon bun until I had tried a SinAmen Bun from SinAmen Bun Co. in Chilliwack.
Well, I take the electorate’s concerns very seriously.

So of course, I drove to Chilliwack to conduct some important investigative journalism. You’re welcome.
…and let me tell you: SinAmen is absolutely worth the drive!

These buns are THICK… Dense, soft, and absolutely loaded with filling and icing. The bun is so perfectly baked that it melts in your mouth, while the layers of cinnamon filling give you that gooey, buttery, brown-sugary taste in every single bite.

So please, keep the recommendations coming! I am a woman of the people, and I have made it my mission to continue my selfless public service by eating delicious food on behalf of all of you.

It’s exhausting work.
But someone has to do it.

Hello, my loyal constituents!

I am once again out here doing the Lord’s work, bravely travelling far and wide in search of the most delicious food for the people. It’s a tough job, but someone has to eat the donuts 🤷‍♀️

Today’s pilgrimage took me to Langley to visit Goldie's Donuts & Bakery… and looks like we may have uncovered a national treasure!

These are not your average donuts!! Goldie’s makes the most elegant brioche donuts that are soooo light and fluffy. They aren’t overly sweet, yet somehow have the most perfect flavouring. You can get a more simple style with the vanilla glazed and old fashioned glazed ring, to the absolutely stuffed feast like the chocolate cream and strawberry milkshake. All are so delicious 🥰

My personal favourite was the hazelnut praline which was drenched in chocolate, covered in crunchy peanut pieces and rich, creamy hazelnut praline.

Goldie’s has earned the royal seal of approval. 👑

And with that, my charitable duties are complete for today. I’m just such a humanitarian, constantly giving back to the community by eating delicious food on behalf of the people.
It’s exhausting being this selfless 💁🏼‍♀️

As you probably know by now, I am a woman of many talents!
I currently run the fried chicken monarchy, hold a PhD in pizza analysis, and now have taken on a new position in the government of deliciousness: Senator of Cinnamon Buns! (All self appointed titles 🙃)

Today we’re visiting a local gem, Bruce's Country Market to put their cinnamon buns (and many other homemade goodies) through an extremely rigorous scientific examination.

My findings:

I don’t know if I’ve ever devoured a bun this gloriously soft, gooey and moist!!!
Their freshly baked sourdough cinnamon buns officially broke the measuring device on the Queen’s Scale of Moistness™.

I ordered 2 and I intended to share…
I ate both.
Sorry not sorry 😋🤷‍♀️

They had the perfect amount of icing, cinnamon, and were so affordable at only $3.99!
And because I have no concept of moderation, I also grabbed some of their cookies and they were equally delicious! (I especially recommend the salted caramel)

So, after thorough investigation, your Senator highly recommends the cinnamon buns from Bruce’s, and hereby declares that they are dangerously delicious!!

Today we’re having a breakfast of champions…
And obviously I’m referring to fried chicken and waffles with a side of cotton candy unicorn waffles 💪

Today’s breakfast adventure took us to The Big Flat Pancake Co. in Port Coquitlam, and this cozy little spot had us feeling like royalty from the second we walked through the door!
The staff was so friendly and accommodating and made me and my crew feel right at home ☺️ They have tons of creative breakfast and lunch options, including a great kids menu for the littles.
I especially loved that there were some healthy options for my kiddo… meanwhile, I was over here eating fried chicken and cotton candy like I had absolutely no adult responsibilities 🙈😅

The waffles were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The fried chicken was deliciously spiced, and with a generous spreading of maple syrup, you get that perfect sweet and savoury combo!
And then there were my cotton candy waffles!! They came loaded with sprinkles, bananas and sweet cream, topped with a sparkler because every responsible breakfast choice needs an indoor fireworks display 😅
Big Flat Pancake Co. made me feel like a kid again… except now I have a credit card and no one was telling me I couldn’t have dessert for breakfast!! 😋

All in all, my family and I had such a fun time! I’d definitely recommend Big Flat Pancake Co. for fried chicken lovers, families with kids, or anyone just looking to unleash their inner child!!

Did you know there’s a place right here in Maple Ridge where you can eat your way around the world without ever leaving 224th street?

Today, we’re taking an international chicken journey to… Express Pizza! They are attempting to conquer the world, one chicken at a time! 🍗

First stop: Italy 🇮🇹
We’re starting with a chicken-loaded pizza… Huge chunks of chicken buried under a glorious amount of cheese. It looked like a dream 😍
Unfortunately, that dream was a bit of a jaw workout as the chicken was quite dry. The pizza has so much potential though as the cheese dispersal was on point and the overall taste was solid 👌

Score: 7/10

Next stop: India 🇮🇳
Butter chicken! And sadly by the looks of it, we’ve brought in the same chicken with us from Italy. A little on the dry side again 😞
The sauce was also a little bland and runny, so unfortunately it didn’t fix our moistness issues.

Score 4/10

Next up: Greece 🇬🇷
Opa! Time for souvlaki and Greek salad.
The salad was excellent! (according to my because veggies are not part of my palate… Unless curly fries and tater tots count, in which case I am basically a health connoisseur! 💁🏼‍♀️)
The chicken was a little dry and overcooked on the ends, but it was well seasoned and the rice had some great flavour!

Score: 7/10

Last stop: The Republic of Chicken Wings 🍗
Population: me. eating each and every single one of them.
These wings were fantastic! Perfect ratio of salt and pepper, juicy, flavourful and cooked to perfection. After the first three stops, these wings felt like we had finally reached the five-star resort!!

9/10

Final thoughts:
Look, I admire the ambition.
But after completing this culinary world tour, I have one small suggestion for Express Pizza:
Stop trying to be the United Nations of chicken and focus on doing a few things really well. There is so much potential here!
So a little less international diplomacy… and a little more focus on perfecting you strengths! ❤️

Today I am celebrating my bun coming out of the oven with… cinnamon buns!

My little sidekick and I went on a very important mission: to find the BEST cinnamon bun in Maple Ridge. Obviously, this required extensive research (and absolutely no self-control 🙈)

We picked up cinnamon buns from 6 local spots: COBS Bread, Projekt+Blend, Picasso Bakery, Gratia Bakery & Cafe, Bella Nonna's, and 7-Eleven Canada.

Here’s how they stacked up:

Cobs Bread
Size: 1/3 of baby
Price: $4.15
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The clear winner. Loaded with icing, fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced 😍

Projekt + Blend
Size: 1/3 of baby
Price: $7.35
Taste: ⭐️⭐️
At $7.35, I had some pretty high expectations… but unfortunately, this “Projekt” was not exactly blending with my taste buds 😑

Picasso Bakery
Size: 1/4 of baby
Price: $5.73
Taste: ⭐️⭐️
Not every Picasso is a masterpiece… and this cinnamon bun proved it.

Gratia Bakery
Size: 1/4 of baby
Price: $4.45
Taste: ⭐️
I’m sorry, Gratia… but this tasted less like a cinnamon bun and more like sawdust with a drop of icing.

Bella Nonna- “Cindie” Cinnamon Bun Donut
Size: 1/2 of baby
Price: $2.20
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Okay, technically a cinnamon bun donut, but I’m allowing it. Massive, cheap, and delicious!

7-Eleven
Size: 1/4 of baby
Price: $2.30
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
For $2.30, this was a moist, melt-in-your-mouth bun. A literal gas station made one of the better cinnamon buns on this list.
Apparently, you can get a surprisingly good cinnamon bun at the same place you buy windshield washer fluid. Who knew? 🤷‍♀️

Final verdict:
If you’re looking for the best cinnamon bun in Maple Ridge, Cobs is the winner. It had the perfect combination of icing, freshness, flavour, size, and price.

So there you have it. The bun has been baked 👶 , the cinnamon buns have been eaten, and science has officially been conducted! 💁🏼‍♀️

Today we’re dining at “Chez 2 North: Maternity”, located in the heart of Ridge Meadows Hospital, to try their Butter Chicken Feast!

Sadly, the chicken and rice were a little on the dry and bland side, but after my own special delivery, I was so hungry I could’ve given a bowl of hospital Jello a Michelin star 🙈
The broccoli was respectfully declined because, as regular diners know, green trees are not part of my diet! The meal also came with a glass of the house red (apple juice) AND a slightly melted ice cream sundae cup (that absolutely hit the spot 😋)

But honestly, the food was never really the main attraction…
The service was!! ❤️

From the moment I arrived, I was treated like absolute royalty. The nurses, doctors, and entire Maternity team went above and beyond to make sure both I and my dinner dates were comfortable and cared for.

The staff was patient, compassionate, and incredibly attentive. They answered every question, checked on us constantly, and made me feel so safe and supported. I truly cannot say enough about the incredible care we received. “Chez 2 North: Maternity” has some of the best service in town (also shout out to the little bistro down the hall at Ridge Meadows Hospital, known as “the OR”, that also had AMAZING staff👏🏼)

And then came the ultimate bonus reward at the end of the meal…

As a 9-month pregnant mom of a very active 1 year old, keeping up with my little one can feel like an Olympic event 🙈
Today we planned for a day of adventures (along with my two lovely, energetic nephews)… park escapades, soccer playing, airplane watching, and of course a stop to fuel up at a local fave: Bobby Sox.

Walking into Bobby Sox with my tiny tornadoes could have been a true natural disaster 🙈… but from the second we arrived, they made us feel completely welcome. Colouring sheets appeared almost instantly, milkshakes with sprinkles were in little hands, and our incredible waitress treated the boys with so much patience and kindness.

We played with the buttons on the jukebox, created towers with the plethora of condiment packages at our disposal, and demolished our delicious food.
When our table started sounding like a soccer stadium, I asked if we could move outside 😅
Within seconds, our entire table had magically been transported to the spacious patio!
No judgment. No sighs. Just smiles and genuine kindness from all the staff!

To all the exhausted parents trying to survive outings with tiny humans… I see you. ❤️ And if you need a place where your kids are welcomed, your food is delicious, and the staff somehow reminds you that you’re doing a great job… Bobby Sox is it.

Did you know there’s a palace right here in the heart of Maple Ridge where every customer is treated like royalty? And no, I’m not just saying that because I’m the self-proclaimed “Queen of Fried Chicken” 🙋‍♀️ 🙈

I had an intense craving for Chinese food and wanted to try somewhere new, so I climbed into my royal carriage and journeyed across the royal kingdom (also known as Lougheed Highway) before arriving at Enjoy Palace.

The second I walked in, I knew this place was something special… It has that true mom and pop feel! They had no social media or website but I had the chance to chat with the sweetest couple running the restaurant. The hardworking chef was in the back creating a feast worthy of a banquet, while his lovely wife greeted every customer with such genuine kindness that you couldn’t help but feel welcome.

The prices were so affordable and the portions were massive. Seriously, I couldn’t believe how much food I got for the price!!

Now, pregnancy has turned me into a slightly unhinged human being with some very specific cravings. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with baby corn… don’t ask me why 🙈). So I sheepishly asked if they could make me Chop Suey with… just chicken and baby corn 😳
There was a brief moment of confusion (understandably 😆) but without hesitation they made it exactly the way I wanted!

The food was incredible. It had more of a homemade taste than your typical Chinese takeout. It wasn’t swimming in oil, tasted fresh and delicious and like it had been made with care 🥰

I often get asked: Who is the GOAT of pizzerias? The Messi. The Ronaldo. The Pele of pizza.

As a professional pizza and chicken wings analyst (a title I knighted myself and take very seriously💁🏼‍♀️), I have been fortunate enough to scout many incredible pies over the years. But one team that is always in contention for the championship trophy is Sunfire Pizzeria.

Confession: I’ve been ordering Sunfire almost weekly over the last few months 🙈Conveniently located on my route home from work, I often tell myself, “Not tonight… Be strong.” And then, somehow, I black out and wake up in my driveway holding several pizza boxes and a pound of wings 🤷‍♀️

Sunfire nails the fundamentals: authentic Neapolitan crust, a flawless cheese to sauce ratio, loaded toppings, and exceptionally juicy, flavour-packed wings. If there were “Golden Boots” for pizza and wings, Sunfire would have a trophy case full!
Sunfire has never let me down. No red cards, no missed penalty kicks, no devastating own goals. Just consistent greatness.

And unlike tickets to see a game, Sunfire pizza is super affordable! A large custom pizza comes in at around $22… which, by FIFA standards, is what they’d charge you for a bottle of water 🤷‍♀️

So if you find yourself in Maple Ridge, consider this your official scouting report: Sunfire Pizza is a serious contender for the World Cup title of pizza ⚽️
