I often get asked: Who is the GOAT of pizzerias? The Messi. The Ronaldo. The Pele of pizza.

As a professional pizza and chicken wings analyst (a title I knighted myself and take very seriously💁🏼‍♀️), I have been fortunate enough to scout many incredible pies over the years. But one team that is always in contention for the championship trophy is Sunfire Pizzeria.

Confession: I’ve been ordering Sunfire almost weekly over the last few months 🙈Conveniently located on my route home from work, I often tell myself, “Not tonight… Be strong.” And then, somehow, I black out and wake up in my driveway holding several pizza boxes and a pound of wings 🤷‍♀️

Sunfire nails the fundamentals: authentic Neapolitan crust, a flawless cheese to sauce ratio, loaded toppings, and exceptionally juicy, flavour-packed wings. If there were “Golden Boots” for pizza and wings, Sunfire would have a trophy case full!
Sunfire has never let me down. No red cards, no missed penalty kicks, no devastating own goals. Just consistent greatness.

And unlike tickets to see a game, Sunfire pizza is super affordable! A large custom pizza comes in at around $22… which, by FIFA standards, is what they’d charge you for a bottle of water 🤷‍♀️

So if you find yourself in Maple Ridge, consider this your official scouting report: Sunfire Pizza is a serious contender for the World Cup title of pizza ⚽️

I have been a longtime customer and lover of Brownies Chicken and Seafood, for so many reasons. They are a homegrown local business serving some of the best fried chicken this Queen has ever had the pleasure of devouring! On top of that, everything is reasonably priced, there are endless options, and they are constantly giving back to the community.

To celebrate all the amazing work my Grade 6/7 class has done this year, we planned a potluck picnic. When I asked the kiddos what they wanted me to bring, the answer was loud and clear: Brownies fried chicken!

I ordered two drumsticks per student, and when I arrived to pick up the order, Brownies absolutely blew me away.
Not only did they throw in extra chicken for myself, my incredible EAs, and my parent volunteers, they packed everything into individual boxes complete with fries, frisbees for the kids, and enough condiments to survive a sauce apocalypse!

Then came the part that nearly made this teacher cry into her gravy.

When I tried to pay, they refused. They insisted this was their way of giving back to local kids and generously provided the entire order on the house.

And let me tell you, the students were absolutely thrilled. The chicken received rave reviews, with comments ranging from “This is the best chicken ever!” to “Can we do this every day?” (Sorry, kids😅)

In a world where we hear all about big corporations, it’s businesses like Brownies that remind us what community really looks like. They don’t just serve incredible fried chicken… they continuously show up for local families, schools, sports teams, and community organizations.

Thank you, Brownies, for your generosity, your kindness, and perfectly seasoned fried chicken!

Hidden gem alert ‼️

While out in Langley, I had a sudden, uncontrollable urge for… PIZZA! (Shocking, I know. Nobody saw that coming 😅)

I had never heard of Pizza Garden Lounge before, but according to Google Maps, it was the closest pizzeria, and this was a full-blown pizza emergency 🚨

I ordered a large chicken pizza for myself, an “Amanti Spinaci” for my husband (which is basically a salad, but to each their own 😳), and we received a FREE 12” pepperoni pizza for my little one 👶 (spend $60 and you get a free pizza!)

My loyal subjects… this was hands down one of the best pizzas I have ever shamelessly inhaled. A massive, authentic Neapolitan crust, savory tomato sauce, a blend of high-quality cheeses, and the most juicy chunks of chicken 🤗

My husband raved about his salad (er I mean pizza 😋) and my little one absolutely demolished his pepperoni pizza.

I feel like I won the pizza lottery this weekend and am forever grateful that Google Maps and my lack of self-control led me to Pizza Garden 🥰

You will not be disappointed!

There are two things the Queen of Fried Chicken loves most: delicious food and supporting local businesses. When those two worlds collide, I consider it my royal duty to investigate!

Today, I present to you an absolute masterpiece: Sweet Little Batchez

Meet Hailey, a local mom and entrepreneur. I stumbled across her Instagram page, , immediately became enamoured with her work, and reached out to request a surprise batch fit for royalty 💁🏼‍♀️ And let me tell you… the Queen was not disappointed!

The artistry on these cake pops is on the level of Monet and Picasso… except unlike their paintings, I fully intended to devour these works of art.

Look at those fried chicken pieces! They’re so realistic, I almost reached for gravy before remembering they were cake pops. 😂

And while this pregnant mama can’t currently enjoy a nice cold beer 🤰🍺, these beer cake pops looked so realistic that I almost asked someone to check my ID. And, best of all, no hangover or questionable texts sent after indulging in these beauties!

There were soccer balls and kittens for my little one, and she even made a surprise Oreo pop with my face on it 😂 Which was perfect for my inner diva and wannabe celebrity 😅🙈

They were almost too beautiful to eat… almost. Because the second I took a bite, all self-control and artistic appreciation went out the window. I couldn’t believe something this gorgeous could also be so moist, flavourful, and delicious.

What’s better than amazing treats? Amazing treats made by a hardworking local mom chasing her dream.

I couldn’t recommend Sweet Little Batchez more. Supporting local has never tasted so good… and apparently, neither has my own face 😂❤️

Opa! 🇬🇷

Today we are travelling to Greece for a feast at OPA! of Greece. I threw on my toga, embraced my inner Greek goddess, and prepared for battle… against an unreasonable amount of chicken and fries!

I ordered the Opa platter, but after seeing the small portions I knew there was no way I was surviving without reinforcements… so I ordered an extra 5 chicken skewers and 2 orders of fries 🙈
Apparently my baby girl and I are training for the Olympics of competitive eating 😂

Now listen… the “pregnant mom special” came to almost $40 😬 which means either:
a) food prices are pretty steep
or
b) I may actually be consuming enough calories to feed a small Spartan army 😳

If you enjoy dining like a Greek god or goddess (as I clearly do these days), just know the portions are on the smaller side at Opa!, so your wallet may suffer the wrath of Mount Olympus.

The chicken was good and definitely tasted high quality… though maybe a little on the dry side. The rest of the “platter” (“platter” being in quotations because I expected a feast fit for Zeus… not a light afternoon snack😅) was so-so… a little bland but not bad… especially if you are looking for a healthier option.
The fries were solid. Crispy and flavourful, they were definitely the highlight of my meal!

Overall, I’d say Opa! Is worth the trip if you are looking for a nice, light meal. While it may not have reached Mount Olympus levels of greatness, it earned a very mid-tier place among the Greek gods of my food rankings.

Today we’re heading to Brodeurs Bistro for a little taste of Louisiana, and y’all… this Southern-style jambalaya is pure Cajun magic!!

This bowl is loaded with juicy, tender chicken, sausage, crispy bacon, bell peppers, onions, and celery… all simmered together over perfectly seasoned rice. The jambalaya usually comes loaded with shrimp as well, but since I’m already the shrimp in this situation, I opted out 😋
Every single bite is bursting with bold, soulful Louisiana flavor. Topped with fresh corn bean salsa and a cool dollop of cream, it’s the perfect balance of smoky, spicy, and delicious.

And let’s not forget my amazing side- Cajun fries! Golden, crispy, and just the right kick of southern spice!

One taste of Brodeur’s and you’ll swear you’ve been transported straight to the heart of Louisiana. This is hands-down one of the best meals I’ve ever had… a true Cajun celebration in every bite!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mamas out there! I hope you’re all being treated like the queens you are today 👑

Today’s celebration includes me aggressively satisfying my spicy pregnancy cravings at Sammy J's Grill & Bar
The blackened chicken pizza is smoky, spicy, and soooo satisfying. It’s loaded with juicy Cajun-seasoned chicken, cheese, and savoury flavour in every bite!

Now bring on the tots! (And I’m not talking about my 1 year old toddler constantly trying to steal my food 🙄)
The Cajun tater tots are INCREDIBLE (and bonus points as this counts as a vegetable right?) Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with the perfect amount of spice 👌

And… BONUS at the end when we got the bill I was surprised with a $10 gift card for being royalty (actually all us moms get a $10 gift card today because we ALL are Queens! 👑)

The chicken force is strong in Maple Ridge today, and I’m shining a spotlight on two true Jedi Masters of the local food galaxy: Brownies Chicken and Seafood and Hani Kebab. Supporting local is the way of the Jedi… it keeps balance in the community and the Force strong in the galaxy (aka Maple Ridge)!
