Hot days like this are often difficult for newborns. Percy (born yesterday ) was ok this morning, but by the afternoon she was panting and frothing at the mouth. So off to the barn for her and her Mom. A couple of hours in the barn and she was doing much better. We will watch her in the barn for a couple of days to make sure she is getting milk.

Working up a hay field with anew piece of equipment, for planting. Legumes have become scarce in our hayfield and overseeding clover hasn't been successful. So we are planting some alfalfa and grass mix as an experiment.. Hoping this works!!!!

Jessie (5J) had her calf early this morning. He is a tiny black bull calf we are naming Peanut (8P). Sire is Kayson. She is keeping a close eye on John as he walked through the herd counting and checking on calves.
