Canada has an opportunity in front of us and we need to act on it. 🇨🇦
I’ve been following the recent conversation around Canadian food security. At Entomo Farms, we’ve been working on that ourselves. Over the past three years, we made a strategic decision to restructure and diversify our business.
Our core focus remains alternative proteins, while also expanding into dehydration and co-packing for Canadian food companies.
We’re helping Canadian food companies process, package and grow their products here in Canada serving Canadian consumers while also supporting companies that export internationally.
Because food security isn’t just about growing food. It’s about building the entire ecosystem:
Canadian agriculture → Canadian processing → Canadian value-added products → Canadian companies → Canadian jobs → global markets.
The United States remains our largest export market, with our cricket protein being used in human food, pet food and science.
And we’ve just taken another step internationally, we are finalising an exclusive wholesale agreement in Mexico and shipped our first order of 3 metric tonnes.
That gives us a partner and a platform to build our presence in Mexico and potentially expand throughout Latin and South America.
Canada doesn’t have a shortage of ideas, entrepreneurs or companies willing to take risks.
What we need is an environment where Canadian companies can build, process, innovate, scale and export from Canada.
We shouldn’t have to choose between Canadian food security and Canadian exports.
We can and should do both.
