Just remember, the way you choose to live your life doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.

Build the life you actually want to live. Spend your time on what matters. Love your people well. Take the chances. Do the weird things. 😂

And make it count. 💛

We like to have fun while doing chores with the kids and in the fall we try to ride the horse out to watch Sean do chores 😂. We clearly can’t get off….

But now we have too many kids and not enough horses, so we are ISO a large pony/small horse wagon/cart and harness! If anyone knows anyone selling, send them our way!!

Alright I lied…. I’m the only one sitting on a horse watching everyone work in the last photo 🤣

We check fences on the next lamb paddock as Garden Fairies, obviously 🧚‍♂️. It’s way faster to fly and check fences than to walk. Everyone knows this.

Interesting chicken fact that makes farming with nature a little trickier..…

Apparently the loss of daylight doesn’t just depress the humans. 🤣

Okay, the chickens probably don’t emotionally care… but their egg laying absolutely does.

As the days get shorter, hens naturally start laying fewer eggs. Because our girls are still out on pasture, following the seasons and living with natural daylight, production slowly drops as we lose those daylight hours.

The easiest way to keep them laying more consistently would be to bring them home, put them in the barn and use artificial light to extend their “day.”

But while the weather is still beautiful and they can be outside scratching, foraging and enjoying pasture… we’re not doing that.

This is one of those realities of choosing to farm with nature instead of trying to control every part of it. 🌿

So please help spread the word to our Farm Family that eggs will be limited for the next few months while we wait for our new girls to mature and start laying!

Thanks for rolling with the seasons with us. 💛

We escaped the farm for a beautiful hike and to explore MORE nature, which we clearly can’t get enough of!

I’m lucky enough to know the pretty cool Crowe's Nest Photography photographer, who happened to be working on her pet portfolio and captured some candid photos of our crew along the way!

I LOVE photos like these. Nothing posed or perfect—just kids being kids, outside exploring this beautiful world we’ve been given. 💛

An incredible season at Deer Meadow Farmacy has come to an end. 💛

For the past two years, we have been able to offer an experience that doesn’t exist anywhere else in Manitoba—thanks to Elena and Aaron.

These two have travelled all over the world learning and perfecting their culinary craft. They’ve experienced how different cultures cook, serve food, pair flavours, and most importantly—how they create an entire experience around a meal.

Then they brought all of that knowledge here.

They created a menu that didn’t just feature food from our farm—it incorporated our entire farm.

The animals we raise.
The garden we grow.
Food foraged from the land around us.
Even drinks handcrafted right here in Manitoba.

Every dish was thoughtfully created so the flavours worked together, but it went so much deeper than flavour.

The food had a connection to the land it came from.

You could walk through the farm, see how the animals were raised, see where the food was grown, learn about the land—and then sit down together and actually eat it.

That is what made these evenings so special.

Elena and Aaron, thank you for approaching us two years ago with this crazy idea and trusting us to build it with you. Thank you for the countless hours, creativity, talent and heart you’ve poured into giving people an experience they simply can’t get anywhere else Manitoba.

A HUGE thank you to Chuck and Debbie for helping serve and an EXTRA thank you to Debbie for spending days preparing and cooking the meal alongside Aaron and Elena 🥰.

We’ve learned that the experience isn’t created by the food and land alone. The people serving it matter too. Chuck and Debbie helped create that warm, relaxed, family-around-the-table feeling that made this evening exactly what we hoped it would be.

And somewhere along the way, strangers around a table became friends.

Thank you to every single person who came out over these past two seasons, toured our farm, ate our food, asked questions, laughed with us and sat around our tables.

What an incredible two years this has been. 💛

KL has spent hours and hours mowing and prepping the yard this week for the farm supper tour tomorrow. However, we’re running out of time, so she accepted a slightly more relaxed approach to the shop yard maintenance.
