🍓 Ever wonder what happens to the berry patch after picking season ends?
Once we’re done harvesting, it’s time to give the plants a “hard reset” — we call it renovation! Here’s what that looks like:
🌱 Mow off the old foliage — those tired, aging leaves aren’t doing much for photosynthesis anymore
🌱 Fertilize to fuel fresh growth
🌱 Rototill between the rows to keep things tidy (strawberry plants send out runners like it’s their full-time job, so without this the rows get overcrowded fast — and crowded rows = smaller berries)
The magic part? Once mowed, the plants push out fresh new leaves that spend the rest of the season rebuilding energy before winter hits. Renovation also helps knock back disease, pests, and weeds — basically setting next year’s crop up for success. 🌾
So if you drive by and see a “mowed down” berry field, don’t worry — that’s just us tucking the plants in for a strong comeback next season! 💪🍓
