Opened in May 2011 Gold Hill is a family based and operated winery. Our small lot wines are made from selected parcels from our own 65 acres of vineyards in Osoyoos and Oliver. With small production and a big reputation, visit our winery to taste these hard to find wines.

Veraison is more than colour change, it’s a checkpoint for uniformity.

Clusters that lag behind signal uneven ripening, which can create inconsistency at harvest. By removing delayed clusters, we not only improve ripening uniformity, but also manage crop load.

A balanced crop ensures the vine isn’t stretched too thin, preventing stress and allowing its energy to focus on fruit destined for premium wine.

Veraison is now underway in the vineyard - the onset of ripening and one of the most critical phenological stages in the growing season.

Uniformity of veraison across clusters is essential for balanced ripening and is often used to assess block variability, guide crop thinning, and fine-tune irrigation strategy.

From this point forward, canopy management and water status must be carefully monitored to optimize fruit exposure, reduce disease pressure, and ensure phenolic maturity aligns with sugar ripeness - all foundational to wine quality at harvest.
