🥔 SNACK ATTACK! 🥔

Apparently we’re getting a little serious about potato chips around here.

We’ve brought in two new-to-us potato chip brands to try — and they each have a pretty compelling reason to crack open a bag.

🥩 Graze Potato Chips are kettle-cooked in 100% grass-fed beef tallow — no seed oils. The tallow gives them a rich, savoury flavour and serious crunch, and frankly, chips fried in beef fat seem very at home in a butcher shop.

We started very small with these ones: just 4 bags of each flavour.
• Sea Salt
• Salt & Vinegar
• Barbeque
• Cheddar, Sour Cream & Onion
• Dill Pickle

🇬🇧 Then there’s Savoursmiths — luxurious British crisps made with potatoes grown on the family farm in East Anglia, with the skins left on and hand-cooked in small batches.

We have a limited number in two suitably posh flavours:
• Truffle & Rosemary — earthy black summer truffle with fragrant rosemary.
• Somerset Cheddar & Shallot — rich cheddar with the delicate sweetness of shallot.

Basically, your snack cupboard just got an upgrade. 🥔✨

Thanksgiving pre-orders are OPEN! 🦃🍂

For seven years, JD Farms turkeys have been a Thanksgiving tradition at Black Sage Butcher — and every holiday, we hear just how good they are. So despite costs continuing to climb, we’re sticking with the beautiful BC-raised turkeys our customers know and love.

Pre-orders are now open for whole and half JD Farms turkeys, along with our smoked bone-in hams. Quantities are limited, so if one of these is part of your Thanksgiving plans, we recommend getting your order in early.

And this is just the start! Turkey roasts and more Thanksgiving favourites will be added for pre-order soon, so stay tuned. 👀

Whichever pack fits your household, you’re stocking your freezer with the same quality meat you’ll find in our butcher case — antibiotic and growth hormone-free, with a focus on ethically-raised BC meat.

And all three come with a pretty great incentive: buy 9 of the same pack within 12 consecutive months and your 10th pack is FREE. 🙌

How to order: Value Packs are available exclusively through our online shop and must be ordered and paid for in advance. Most are ready within a few days — sometimes as soon as the next day — but please allow up to one week depending on the pack and our production schedule. Once your order is placed we’ll contact you within one business day to coordinate a pick-up date.

Orders are currently fulfilled Tuesday through Saturday. If you need yours by a specific date, please contact us before purchasing so we can confirm availability.

We're having a little cheeky Friday fun...

For the past six years, you've voted Black Sage Butcher as Best Butcher/Meat Shop in the Penticton Western News' Best of the South Okanagan contest — something we've always been incredibly grateful for. 💗

This year, we nearly missed the nominations altogether. But we got there just in time and, after taking a look through some of the categories, decided to throw our hat into the ring.

For Best Vegan. 🌱

There were only two nominees, so frankly, we like our odds. 😂

In all seriousness, after six years of asking you to vote for us (sometimes every hour!), we think we've reached the point where we'd rather have a little fun with it than launch another voting campaign.

Your support across our counter, in our inbox and here on social media means far more to us than any popularity contest ever could.

So... we brought in both. 🙌

This is what August tastes like. 🍅

A perfectly ripe tomato, straight from the garden. Thick slices, a generous stack of our Peppered Steakhouse Bacon, a little mayo, and toasted sourdough sandwich bread from our friend Audrey at La Levainière by Audrey.

Sometimes the best summer meals are the ones that barely need a recipe.

When the tomatoes are this good, you just build the sandwich around them. ❤️

Our hearts are with everyone in Summerland affected by this devastating wildfire. ❤️

To those who have been evacuated, those facing the uncertainty of what comes next, and especially those who have already lost their homes — our thoughts are with you.

We're incredibly grateful to the firefighters, first responders, emergency personnel and volunteers working to protect people and our neighbouring communities.

Black Sage Butcher has made a donation to the South Okanagan Similkameen Wildfire Response Fund, and for anyone wondering how they can help, the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen has made it easy to contribute directly through the post below.

There are also several local businesses and organizations collecting essential items for evacuees. We'll share some of the efforts happening in Oliver, Penticton and Osoyoos in the comments, so those who would prefer to donate supplies can find a collection point nearby.

One of the things we love most about living in the South Okanagan is how this region shows up for its neighbours. Right now, our neighbours need us. ❤️

Our hearts are breaking as fires ravage Summerland. So many people have lost their homes and treasures despite the best efforts of first responders.
