Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery

Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery We are from and of this Valley. We grew up here, we know it, we love it, we are a product of it. This work ethic drives the Bartier Bros.

We humbly put forth our wines as an expression, not just of the Valley’s geography, but of the people and events that are its history. There is an ethos here that dictates resilience, optimism, and above all, self-reliance. Hard work and being content in that is a hallmark signature of the Okanagan Valley. Inspiration is always useful, and the valley has it in spades, but it is the quiet work ethic that has always brought that inspiration to the light of day. farming and winegrowing philosophy.

Semillon Sunday 🌿 | September 6

The Semillon is coming along nicely, and as we get closer to harvest, Andrew is keeping an eye on it—and tasting the grapes—to see how they’re progressing.

One of the signs he’s watching for is the colour of the seeds. As the grapes approach harvest, they gradually change from green to dark brown. This happens alongside the lignification of the canes, when the green, flexible canes begin to mature and turn brown and woody.

The grapes are also getting sweeter, while their flavours continue to develop. Those flavours will ultimately become part of what you experience in the finished w**e.

We’re getting closer. 🍇

🍞 The Bread Project — September 4–12

Our doors are open. And we’d love to see you.

We’re wrapping up our Pairing Project series with The Bread Project, our final tasting experience of the season. We’ve had so much fun coming up with these projects — from Chocolate, to Chips, to Sweets — and we've enjoyed sharing them with your and seeing the pairings you come up with.

For the final project, we’re bringing w**e and bread together on the patio with plenty of room for experimentation.

Enjoy 5 w**es, including a special library w**e, alongside artisinal bread, 4 different dips and a very limited Italian olive oil. We’ll offer a few pairing suggestions, but the fun is in trying different combinations and discovering what works for you.

There’s no right answer and no perfect pairing you have to find. Taste, mix, match and see how the different w**es, flavours and textures come together.

📅 September 4–12in
⏰ 11:00 AM–3:30 PM
🍷 5 w**es (includes a library w**e)
🍞 Fresh bread + 4 spreads + Italian olive oil
💵 $30 per person

Reservations are recommended (plus you save $5 per person when you book online).

Come out to the w**ery, settle in on the patio and enjoy an afternoon of w**e, good food and vineyard views (and maybe catch some harvest action).

This is the final Pairing Project of the season, but it won’t be the last. We’ve had so much fun creating these experiences that The Pairing Project will be back next year with more unexpected pairings to explore.

Semillon Sunday | August 30 🍇

We interrupt Semillon Sunday to bring you… Sauvignon Blanc Sunday.

The Semillon is gradually ripening, gaining another 2–3° Brix over the past week. We’re getting closer, but it’s not quite time to pick yet.

Meanwhile, Michael called the pick for our Sauvignon Blanc a few days ago. It was exactly where he wanted it—coming in at 22–23° Brix with a pH of 3.2.

This Sauvignon Blanc is grown just down the road from us by Rob & Gisele Cleave at Desert Wolf Vineyard.

So while we wait for the Semillon to fully ripen, the Sauvignon Blanc is taking its turn in the spotlight. Harvest is definitely underway!

Harvest so far:
✅ Chardonnay for Brut
✅ Sauvignon Blanc
⬜ Semillon
⬜ Chardonnay
⬜ Riesling
⬜ Cabernet Franc
⬜ Merlot
⬜ Pinot Noir
⬜ Rosé

Our door is open. 🍇

Harvest is underway, the vineyard is buzzing, and it’s a great time to get out and enjoy the South Okanagan.

If you’re local, make a day of it. If you’re coming from farther away, make it a weekend. Stop in for a tasting, stay for a glass on the patio, and make a few stops along the way. There’s plenty to see, eat and drink around the valley.

We’re open daily from 11am–5pm. Come see us. 🍷

🍇 It’s happening. Harvest starts tomorrow morning!

We’ve been watching the grapes get closer and closer, and now it’s finally time to start picking. The bins are ready, the crew is ready, and we’re pretty excited to get things moving.

Harvest means early mornings, tractors rolling through the vineyard, grapes arriving at the w**ery, and our amazing crew out there picking every bunch by hand. There’s plenty of excitement around here. 🍷

If you’ve been thinking about coming out for a visit, this is a pretty great time to do it. Come grab a glass, hang out on the patio and soak up a little harvest energy with us.

Here we go! 🍇 Any guessing as to what we are picking tomorrow?

Semillon Sunday 🌿 | August 23

Harvest is getting closer, and Andrew is keeping a close eye on how the Semillon is ripening.

One of the things he’s checking is Brix — a measure of the sugar in the grapes that helps indicate ripeness. But it’s not always as simple as taking one sample from a block.

Even within the same vineyard block, grapes can ripen at different rates. Differences in soil, vine growth, exposure and water can all mean one area is a little further along than another.

So Andrew takes samples from different parts of the block to get a better picture of where the grapes are at — and when they’ll be ready to pick.

The countdown to harvest is on. 🍇

Semillon Sunday 🌿 | August 9

It’s been a tough week in the Okanagan. We’re thinking of everyone affected by the fires in Summerland and just south of the border from us, and hoping everyone stays safe.

There are no active fires in our immediate area, and things here at the w**ery are carrying on as usual. Our tasting room is open if you’re in the area and looking to get out for a bit.

The smoke has slowed the vines down. They’re not currently photosynthesizing, which means they aren’t taking up the most recent watering as much as they normally would.

Andrew is checking the Brix today — a measure of the sugar in the grapes and one of the ways we track their progress toward harvest.

Right now, our Semillon is sitting at about 12-14 Brix. We’ll probably pick when it reaches around 22–23 Brix, so there’s still a ways to go.

Under ideal conditions, grapes gain roughly 1.5–2 Brix per week. Based on where we are today, we’re currently looking at a mid-September harvest.

🌱 12-14 Brix now
🍇 22–23 Brix = harvest
📅 Mid-September = current estimate

See you next Sunday. 🍇
