A beginners introduction to packing on horses, as well as dutch oven cooking.

It is susposed to rain, but we will be undercover.

This is why people do rotational grazing, and having animals on pasture can be beneficial in regenerative agriculture. I wouldn't quite call myself a regenerative farmer, but here is something I've noticed.

3 years ago, when I only had 4 hens and was still working on the chicken coop, they were in a chicken tractor in my front yard. I pulled it forward about once a week. I only had them touch about half the front yard before the coop was ready.

I can see a visible difference between where the chickens were vs. where they weren't. I guess I need to bring them back over and even out the yard.

Happy Victoria Day, long weekend. That is right. You are seeing snow on the ground.

I had an extra couple of pairs of hands this weekend helping me get some projects done. Thank you, Ryan and Daniel!

Combined with a rented auger, we managed to get all the posts for the paddocks in, set up the round Pen, moved the shelter logic closer to the stalls for hay storage, and got some bonus perimeter posts in.

Kida, in picture 4, is an accurate representation of how we all felt after the long weekend.

Once the rails are up, I'll have 2 openings for horse boarding on the on the farm, self board, starting June 1st. You can message me for more details.

I'll be stocking the "farm stand" aka the cooler once a week. Most likely on Thursdays, and we will see how that goes.

I just got home late last night after spending 3 days with BCHBC at our annual in-person Spring Board of Directors meeting. It was held in Sorrento. We had a lot of great speaker's, I came home with a tone of notes and ideas, like always.

Not to mention the great company, food, and amazing weather (I was almost sad to go home to the rain).

In the first picture... I was utterly enamored by the shadows that were cast on the curtains at the foot of my bed. I'm trying to figure out how I can mimic it in home decor some how.

😍 I'm the kind of person who is always willing to help other people with projects and motivation. I love a day of running errands with people. Let's get a coffee, go to the grocery store, and pick up your prescription at the pharmacy.

😅 I think I need some help with my own accountability and follow-through this year. I have a lot of projects I started, and then said "good enough".

So here is my to-do list:

1. Finish the fencing on the horse paddocks and get a couple borders. (If you know anyone...)
2. Siding on the shed.
3. Finish the siding and trim on the chicken coop.
4. Put the remaining 2 gates in for the secondary entrance.

In that order I think...

Wishlist?

I'd love fruit trees and some more berry bushes.
I'd love to get a permanent fence around the garden.
Greenhouse?!?!
I have to clean up the remaining debris in the back of the property and put up a perimeter fence to keep my neighbors out.

But one step at a time, right? Let's finish those existing projects together! 💪
