🍓 Strawberry Restock✨

Today we stocked up our freezer stash for smoothies and baking, plus plenty of fresh berries for everyday snacking. Always doing our best to have a low-waste home, I couldn’t let those strawberry tops go to waste — so into a pot they went for a homemade strawberry simple syrup!

Simple, delicious, and the perfect way to dress up a cold strawberry lemonade or a berry gin spritzer on a hot afternoon. ☀️🍓🥂

Homesteading is all about making the most of what you have, and sometimes the “scraps” turn into the best treats. ❤️

Remember— homesteading starts in the kitchen!😉

✨Never underestimate the power of a simple homemade remedy🌼

The other day, my daughter was dealing with some skin irritation, so I did what many homesteading mamas do—I headed to my apothecary cabinet.

Tucked away on the shelf was a jar of dandelion-infused oil that had been slowly steeping for quite some time. I drew some into a syringe, filled a small roller bottle, and within minutes had a soothing dandelion oil roll-on ready to use.

It reminded me that some of the most useful remedies are often the simplest ones.

With dandelion season upon us, this is something almost anyone can make. Dandelions are abundant, free, and packed with skin-loving properties.

A few reasons I love dandelion-infused oil:

🌼 Traditionally used to help soothe dry, irritated skin

🌼 Rich in antioxidants that help support healthy skin

🌼 Gentle enough for everyday use as a moisturizing body oil or spot treatment

🌼 A wonderful way to preserve the benefits of spring's most abundant flower

There is something deeply satisfying about stepping outside, gathering what nature provides, and turning it into something useful for your family.

Sometimes the best remedies aren't found in a store—they're already growing in your backyard. 💛

Homestead friends, would you ever be open to using dandelion oil for yourself or your family?

I'd love to hear if you've made it before, how you use it, or if it's something you've been wanting to try! 💛

Last Saturday, I brought my Blueberry Sourdough Crumble Focaccia to Loon Bay Market, and the response was incredible! ❤️

These golden, fluffy focaccias were so well loved that they sold quickly, and I’m beyond grateful for everyone who stopped by, tried one, and shared such kind feedback.

The good news? They’ll be back! 🎉

Mark your calendars — I’ll be bringing fresh Sourdough Blueberry Crumble Focaccia back to Loon Bay Market on Saturday, June 13th 10-3. If you missed out last time, this is your chance to grab one (or two 😉).

Thank you for supporting local baking and my little sourdough journey. I can’t wait to see you again!

Just wanted to do a little recap of yesterday's market! ☀️

Even though the sun didn't fully come out until the end of the day, it was still such a beautiful day, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I feel incredibly fortunate that my booth was swarmed during my very first hour at Loon Bay. It brings me so much joy and reassurance knowing that I'm in the right industry and doing something I truly love.

I can't wait to bring you even more breads and new focaccia flavours in the coming weeks! Yesterday's big hit was, of course, the Apple Fritter Focaccia, along with my newest creation—the Blueberry Crumble. Luckily, I saved one at home for myself; otherwise, I wouldn't have had any left! 😅

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported my small business, and made the day so special.

I’ll be taking a week off to recharge, but I’ll be back at Loon Bay Summer Market on June 13th with fresh baking and some exciting new flavours for you to try! ❤️

See you all soon!

Homemade Apple butter with side quest Apple Cider Vinegar✨

Last night I started this Apple butter to cook slowly all night long in the crock pot. I woke up to the house smelling of spiced apple. I then blended those delicious flavours together— This mixture is the star of the show for my Apple fritter focaccias this weekend!

While making it, instead of throwing away the apple cores, I decided it was the perfect time to start another batch of apple cider vinegar.

It’s amazing how much use you can get out of what would normally be waste—perfect for homemade salad dressings, soaks, and building up batches throughout the summer so we can make plenty of fire cider this fall.

Homesteading really does start in the kitchen.
