The difference a year can make. 🌱
I am so excited and fully committed to our regenerative farming practices. I love knowing that the work we do today can have a positive and lasting impact on the land we own and manage for years to come. But if I’m honest, sometimes I get impatient. I want to see progress. I want signs that all the hard work is actually improving soil health and supporting a healthier ecosystem.
One of the practices we’ve been using through the winter is bale grazing. A large portion of our land is very sandy — and in some areas, pure sand — with very low organic matter, poor structure, and very few nutrients for roots to establish and plants to thrive.
For the past two winters we’ve been bale grazing, and the results are speaking for themselves. This is one of those rare occasions where we haven’t had to wait long to see a dramatic improvement in the land. The increased organic matter, manure, urine, and leftover hay are helping feed the soil and build fertility naturally.
The cows will be back on this area soon to add even more nutrients and continue the cycle. Nature really is amazing. 🌾🐄
