New in store! Come try a slice of the Shropshire Blue from Derbyshire's award-winning . 🐄🇬🇧💙

Originally established in the 1870s, the creamery has a long and storied history of English cheesemaking. Enduring a fire, changing ownership and an evolving 20th century that saw many neighbouring cheese dairies close, the factory finally shut its doors in 2009 - until it was reopened in 2012 as Hartington Creamery Limited.

Located at the historic Pikehall Farm, Hartington proudly makes all their cheese by hand using traditional recipes with milk from the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Known as the world's smallest producer of PDO Stilton - which we also have in stock! - Hartington's Shropshire Blue is made with pasteurized cow's milk and matured for around 10 to 12 weeks. Developing a natural rind, once it's cut into you'll notice deep blue veining and that striking Shropshire orange which is achieved by adding annatto to the milk.

Soft textured and approachable in flavour, this is a very friendly English blue that is salty, tangy and caramel-forward, with grassy and farmy notes on the end that will only intensify as the cheese ages.

Available in-store, find Hartington's Shropshire - and other fine English cheeses - exclusively at our cheese counter this summer, while quantities last!

Just arrived! Two of our favourite cheeses produced by Shep and his talented team at are back in stock! 🇨🇦

Have you tried the Brigid's Brie? 🐄 This soft, surface-ripened cheese is made from pasteurized cow's milk. With a bloomy rind and creamy white paste, this brie-style is aged for six weeks and has mild, lactic flavours of mushroom with a uniquely nutty finish. We love pairing it with our Fine Cheese Co. Toasts and your favourite jam or jelly!

Love Buffalo Milk? 🐃 Then you've got to try the Buffalo Bliss! Located in Alymer, the organic cooperative Healthy Organic Produce Enterprises (H.O.P.E.) represents an Amish group of more than thirty small-scale farms working together to grow and market their goods under one common brand. Made from 100% grass-fed Water Buffalo milk, the milk collected is sent off-site to Gunn's Hill and turned into a soft surface ripened cheese that is small in size but big in flavour! Wonderfully creamy and salty and growing stronger with age, we love this cheese on our summer boards - it's also fantastic on sandwiches!

Find these and other fine Canadian cheese in-store this summer, while quantities last.

New in store! Come try a slice of Cheddar from the village of Cheddar itself - that is, the small village in the heart of southwest England that serves as the birthplace of the classic cheese we all know and love. 🐄🇬🇧

While it's made all over the world, true, authentic farmhouse cheddar originated in Somerset in the 12th century. By the time WWII concluded, the village of Cheddar was no longer known for its cheese, but more than twenty years ago locals John and Katherine Spencer saw an opportunity to bring it back - and thus the was born.

Dedicated to the preservation of this classic cheese, the couple believes it all starts with terroir. Fresh, local milk is delivered to the dairy each morning, and because it's heated to a lower temp, all those important micro-organisms and enzymes that ensure a complex, distinct depth of flavour are retained.

Another important element of Cheddar's preservation lies in the refinement process. Once the wheels are pressed into twenty-four kilo truckles, they're dressed in traditional muslin or clotton cloth and transported for further aging in the nearby Cheddar Gorge. This series of caves was historically used to store and age cheese, and it provides the perfect humidity and temperature to age the clothbound wheels under the cheesemaker's careful eye.

The result is a traditional British farmhouse cheddar of authentic provenance and complex, punchy flavour. Our current wedge is aged for up to ten months, and has a firm, creamy texture, with flavours that are earthy, grassy and tangy, growing stronger the closer you get to the rind. Let your slice warm up to room temp and smear it with your favourite dark and tangy English chutney for an authentic Ploughman's lunch experience!

Available for only a limited time, find the Gorge Cheddar - and other fine imported British cheeses - in-store this summer, while quantities last!
