Attention all GIN LOVERS and CURIOUS - join us at Byward Wine Market for a special evening with Vancouver Island’s celebrated Sheringham Distillery. We’re welcoming owner and distiller Jason MacIsaac for an intimate tasting that brings the spirit of the West Coast straight to Ottawa.
🇨🇦
Jason will guide us through a curated lineup of six exceptional spirits, showcasing the craft, character, and coastal inspiration behind each bottle. Expect a deep dive into Sheringham’s signature style, from their beautifully balanced Pacific, Coastal, and Beacon Gins to a trio of vibrant, small-batch liqueurs: Fresh Lemon, Fresh Rhubarb, and Coffee.
🍋🌊
This is a rare opportunity to taste a collection of products not widely available in Ontario - perfect for gin enthusiasts and adventurous palates alike. And yes, there just might be a perfectly poured Gin & Tonic (or two) along the way.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, tasting, and West Coast charm - right here in the ByWard Market.

Includes 6 gins, conversation and snacks.

GOOD NEWS DAY - we are back with events at Byward Wine Market. Up first 🥂THE SUSTAINABLE BOTTLE: Understanding Organic, Biodynamic and Low Intervention Wines with ANDREW RASTAPKEVICIUS
🌿
The whole category of greener more sustainable wine has been very trendy in the last decade but what does it all mean? What makes a wine sustainable, organic, biodynamic, natural, or low intervention? And what do they taste like?
🍷
Long gone are the days of organic wine being synonymous with rustic, bad wine made by hippies. Now most of the world’s top wineries are organic or biodynamic and many of the world’s top restaurants have exclusively natural wine lists. Why? We’ll taste a selection of fantastic wines from around the world to highlight this production and you’ll have a good understanding of what all these things mean.

Includes 5 wines, conversation and snacks.

We’re all about the classics lately. New in the shop: L’Oratoire des Papes – Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2023 & 2024) 🍷
A benchmark expression of Châteauneuf, showcasing classic Rhône depth and elegance - ripe red and dark fruit, garrigue herbs, warming spice, and a smooth, structured finish. Rich yet beautifully balanced, these wines feel festive and comforting, making them perfect for the holiday season and long evenings around the table.

Pair with: rosemary-crusted lamb, duck confit, prime rib, wild mushroom dishes, or slow-braised beef with herbes de Provence - ideal for celebratory meals and winter gatherings.

We’re fortunate to live in a place where supporting local is not just possible but celebrated. More than ever, people are eager to explore and enjoy Canadian wine. Every day, we’re asked: What should we try?
🇨🇦
While Canada’s wine style differs from the bold, jammy profiles of the U.S., our cooler climate produces some of the world’s finest wines and spirits. This patriotic momentum presents a perfect opportunity to showcase what we do best.
🍷
For red wine lovers, Niagara’s climate excels at crafting exceptional Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Cabernet/Merlot blends. Prefer white? A crisp Canadian Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay is a must-try.
🇨🇦
Bottom line: we live in a pretty awesome place to be able to support local.
