Savory Australian Busters with Cheddar 🌾🧀
Looking for a deliciously cheesy snack? These savory Australian Busters are perfect for any occasion and will have everyone asking for seconds!
Ingredients:
- 3-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, loosely packed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 8 tablespoons butter, cut into 1/4-inch dice
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 to 7 tablespoons water
Instructions:
1. Start by preheating your oven to 450°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and give it a light spray of nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
2. In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the diced butter and use your fingertips to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
3. Gently stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed, ensuring every bite will be cheesy.
4. With a fork, mix in the water and cayenne pepper gradually until the dough begins to come together. The goal is a soft but manageable dough.
5. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use a circular cutter to cut out 3-inch rounds. Rolled scraps can be re-rolled to utilize all the dough.
6. Arrange the rounds on your prepared baking sheet and prick each one about 10 times with a fork. This will help them bake evenly and prevent puffing.
7. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden color. Once baked, allow them to rest on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
