The bees are still bringing in pollen on this last day of September! Can you spot the one bee with bright yellow balls on her back legs? That’s pollen she’s likely collected from asters or the very last of the goldenrod. The bees store it and eat it as their source of protein.

Today’s bee-auties! The honeybees are visiting New England Aster, a native perennial that blooms September to October and is very popular with the bees right now! This one grew in our garden and I’m so glad now that I didn’t pull it as a w**d. You’ll often see these beauties along the roadsides this time of year.

Another See the Bees season has come to a close! 🐝

A huge thank you to the thousands of people who came to Gees Bees to learn about honeybees this summer — and to Beekeeper Andie for sharing our love of bees with every one of our guests!

While See the Bees is finished until next year, there’s still lots happening at Gees Bees. 🍯 We’re now in full honey harvest mode, extracting and bottling this summer’s honey, while the bees begin their fall preparations for the winter ahead.

And of course, the honey doesn’t stop when the tours do! Our Farm Honey Shop and Sussex Drive store are open year-round, with plenty of local honey, beeswax candles and gifts to enjoy in every season.

Thank you for a wonderful summer of bees. We can’t wait to welcome you back to See the Bees next year! 🐝💛

It’s honey harvest season! 🍯🐝

The honey house is a busy place these days as we harvest, extract and bottle this year’s honey — including the harvest our Hive Share members have been waiting for all summer.

From pulling the first frames from the hives to watching the honey flow from the extractor, this is one of our favourite times of the beekeeping year.

A few more weeks of harvesting and bottling ahead! 🍯

They will come if you plant what they love! This is Joe Pye W**d.
