We got compost baby!!! 22 cubic yards! As part of our no-till growing, we’re laying down compost mulch to support the soil health, which will support and nourish our crops!! Unfortunately it’s a little too wet to get a delivery right into our field… so who’s going to move all that compost by wheelbarrow? Anyone?

Next week we're having a fence-building work party!! 💪

🦌 When: Tuesday April 21st, 9am to 4pm

🦌 Where: 230 Davidson's Side Rd.

We have so many lovely deer on the property, but they can't resist snacking in our field! We need all the hands we can get to help with putting up cedar posts, rolling out heavy wire fencing, and tamping down gravel and soil into the post holes.

If you're able to come out for even a small part of the day, or if you'd like more info, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected] !

Greenhouse days have been pretty dreamy lately with lots of seeding and thinning! Don’t worry though, no food goes to waste over here. We eat every little micro green - our favourite so far is Bok Choi!

We are sooo grateful to be growing your food and field work starts next week wooo!

Sometimes winter farming is spreadsheets, seed ordering and greenhouse starting and sometimes it’s delivering a tiny wheelbarrow to the farm that we got on Facebook marketplace! This will be used in our kinder-garden - our open to the public garden beds planted just for kid’s exploration of how food grows.

This is one of the MANY second-hand purchases we’ve made while setting up our farm and we’re really proud to say the only items we’ve purchased new are our seeds! Taking Good Care extends beyond how we treat the earth and the food we grow to everything we bring into the space. Focusing on reusing items and keeping our money cycling locally is a huge part of taking good care for us!

We can’t wait to see you at the farm so soon!!!

Melting snow = time to sow!! Nothing beats a sun-warmed greenhouse, a few days above zero, and starting seeds that we'll care for and watch grow for months to come. Even better when we can celebrate growing good food with good people, !

If you're getting excited about springtime too, remember that our Harvest Box sign-up for this summer has been extended to the end of March! The seeds we're planting now will become your veggies this summer!! 🌞🌱

We can't wait to bring you a series of eco art workshops this summer!! We are collaborating with the incredible Barbara Brown () to welcome you into exploring sustainably grown food and the celebration of plants through creativity. We had the joy of collaborating and participating in a few Barbara-led events last year as part of her Sowing the Future () corn growing project. We are so excited to continue hosting this meaningful project in our space. How wonderful to grow both food and art supplies for our community!

Barbara will be leading 3 arts-based workshops at Good Care Farm, including:

Direct printing with CORN!🌽
Nature-based t-shirt printing! 👕🫜
Cyanotype printing! (so cool!) 🌿

Dates and registration will be shared in late spring. Subscribe to our newsletter through our website to hear about it first!

We want to host more workshops this season too! What kinds of workshops do you want to see this summer? Comment below!!

Did you know our work on the land started last fall to grow you food for the 2026 season? We spread multiple types of compost on our field before planting anything. Before the snow fell, we were able to plant over 100 ft of raspberry bushes, almost 200 ft of cherry bushes and over 700 bulbs of 9 different kinds of garlic! Now we’re spending the resting season crop planning and seed buying. See you in the spring!
