I have really debated posting regarding this or just letting it go, but I have now received a couple messages so its time to make this post again.
It also makes me feel crummy as I try to accommodate everyone & when my morals & values are taken out of left field it makes me feel defeated!
For anybody who knows me, or has added a PHKJ p.u.p to their h.o.m.e knows unfortunately we do not do visits, pop in, or can we just come meet the animals (i get hundreds of messages of people just wanting to come visit our farm, unfortunately I am not a petting zoo).
So let's dive a little more into this!
Unfortunately i don’t allow any visitors when we have nursing/ pregnant d.o.g.s or p.u.p.p.i.e.s on the ground. This includes my kids friends & family!
There is many factors that come into play!
My number one concern is keeping our p.u.p.p.i.e.s safe. Young p.u.p.p.i.e.s have very vulnerable immune systems, and even well-meaning visitors can unknowingly bring in germs, viruses, or parasites that can put an entire litter at risk. There’s also risk to m.o.m.s during this time. Changes in routine, smells, and strangers can cause stress that impacts their care and comfort.
We learnt this the hard way last year with a p.u.p.p.y when a saskpower man came here!
I am very strict on our biosecurity measures we have in place...even ask my vet our p.u.p.p.i.e.s dont even touch the ground at the vet clinic 😅
I do also have strict biosecurity measures in place for our goats, pigs & sheep! Quarantine measures etc!
I also raise our p.u.p.p.i.e.s in my personal h.o.m.e, not a separate facility, so it’s also a matter of maintaining a safe and private space for my f.a.m.i.l.y and our d.o.g.s to feel secure.
I have had so many threats in the past for b.r.e.e.d.i.n.g, and living the life we do "adopt dont shop". I have had people find out where we live & harass us multiple times, i have had threats to b.u.r.n our h.o.u.s.e down and it goes on!
I have seen so many horror stories of b.r.e.e.d.e.r.s who have been injured, m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d, or r.o.b.b.e.d.
All p.u.p.p.y pick ups are also done in a public area & my f.a.m.i.l.y knows where I am!
I am a mom to five beautiful kiddlets as well as a mom to all of my fur babies that I need to keep safe! ❤️
That said, transparency is incredibly important to me. I am an open book if you have any questions at all, I am absolutely more then willing to answer them, talk on the phone, pictures, videos you name it 😀
This isn't a matter of having anything to "hide" its about keeping myself & my family safe!
If you follow along our page I post/video alot of our day to day life! We also have had the pleasure of having very close relationships with our vets over the years!!
Regarding the "p.u.p.p.y pick you" this is not how we do it.
The time our p.u.p.p.y selections start I have assessed our l i.t.t.e.r.s & every individual p.u.p.p.y. Knowing their little personalities for each family to help them decide what one will best suit their needs & wants. Ultimately it comes down to their finaly decision, but assessing those p.u.p.p.i.e.s and knowing that temperament helps wonders! This is how we have done it for 8 years now and we have many happy PHKJ fams!!
I put everything i have into what I do. Time, effort, energy, and financially! There are nights i go with out sleep, I work my butt off from sun up to sundown & into the dark(thank goodness for head lamps), the p.r.i.c.e of food, health testing, bringing in new d.o.g.s, vet bills, loses etc! We miss out on 95% of things because of the life we live & when this is in question it truly is upsetting!
I absolutely LOVE what i do and I wouldn't change it for the world!
I do realize this isn't for everybody & I know some f.a.m.i.l.i.e.s love to meet p.u.p.p.i.e.s, adults etc.
Unfortunately we aren't the b.r.e.e.d.e.r for you & that is totally okay, there are many other b.r.e.e.d.e.r.s out there to suit your needs! :)
