Any local interest in Ayam Cemani (chicks for now and eventually hatching eggs)? I will be adding this stunning rare breed to my flock and MAY potentially have a few chicks available in a few weeks! I am starting very small to try to gage interest in this breed before going all in, so will have very very limited availability if any once we get our final hatch rate. I am only purchasing one dozen hatching eggs at this time and only keeping one roo and one or two hens from the hatch. Any others will be available to purchase. I will not be taking any pre-orders at this time. We will operate on a first come first serve basis as it is never guaranteed how many will hatch. Please keep in mind this breed is expensive! I will be asking $50/chick. I do not want anyone being shocked by the price at inquiry!!

We have a new rescue on the farm. A beautiful mature female pileated woodpecker. She was found unable to fly with a droopy right wing. With the help of some wonderful compassionate people we were able to capture her from a residential roof top and safely contain her for the night until a more thorough assessment could be done in the morning. Upon assessing her this morning we found some swelling and looseness in the right wing close to the body. This could indicate a joint injury, which unfortunately drastically impacts and complicates her release potential. We are going to try to get her in for some xrays to confirm the extent of the injury tomorrow. Only then we will have a better idea of what her potential for release will be. Joint injuries greatly increase the chance of the bird becoming permanently flightless, in which case she will be deemed unreleasable. We hope this will not be the case! We will be calling her miss Salt and Pe**er for now!

We have been busy!! If you are wondering where we have been and what we have been doing - we have been busy hatching babies for you to purchase at Skene Transfer and Supply and a couple new things! We will have guinea keets available after June 20th! Limited quantity available so will be first come first serve. Stay tuned for when they arrive at Skene's! We are still trying to locate some more hatching eggs so we can offer even more of these fantastic tickets eaters! We are also looking into hatching out some water fowl for you! If you have any particular breeds you would like to see available locally please let us know and we will do our best to get our hands on them for you!!

On another note - more new things have been happening at the farm! We are (slowly) getting into wildlife rehabilitation and have our first rehab baby that we are caring for under the guidance of another licensed rehaber while i continue my training! That being said - we would love to introduce to you little Hammy, the baby orphaned squirrel! Hammy has been with us nearly 2 weeks and is doing fantastic. He is quickly gaining energy and will very soon need a larger enclosure to accommodate all his energy! He is roughly 6-7 weeks old and will not be releasable until around 18 weeks at which point we will be getting a bit too close to winter to release him at that point. Hammy will likely over winter in our home and move to a soft release enclosure next spring. Maybe by then we will have a friend or two for him to release with! 🤞for now he is thriving with us! 🐿

Yesterday was such a great turnout we sold out of the month Olds we had, we have a new batch of 1 month old BantamX babies!!!
