We are hiring a Part Time Farm hand for our growing season. Shifts would be between Monday and Friday.

This position includes working within all aspects of the farm. The chosen candidate will be harvesting and preparing crops for sale, maintaining the growing areas and ensuring the work area stays clean and organized. The candidate will experience, the full grow cycle, from planting to harvesting and then preparing the produce for the local stores. We grow high quantities of select produce and the selected candidate will really learn how local food is grown.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions. While we try to design our day to be not in direct sun at the hottest times of the day, sometimes you in the full sun and you need to be ok with that. The candidate should be able to follow directions and comfortable lifting 50lbs… crates of zucchinis are heavy!
You need to be confident working on your own following a list of tasks, and working with someone. If you’d like to spend your summer working in the dirt and have a passion for local food then we are the right place for you. We are on our 6th year of building soil here on our land and it’s one of the most crucial aspects of our farming operation.

When we first started growing in 2020 are soil didn’t have any nutrients, the fields just sat in pools of water all winter and the veggies only grew off of the fertilizers we applied. Our garlic was small, lots of times they were only double cloves and in the summer the fields dried out and cracked as if we were in the desert.

Through extensive cover cropping, field rotations, manures and composts our fields are coming to life. This is the 3rd time we have been able to cultivate this field this year. The first year the bottom of this field sat water and we lost about $2000 of garlic from water damage. Now we are driving a tractor on it. Yes weather makes a difference, but we have had no shortage of rain this winter. The difference is a living soil that breaths and drains. Soil structure being built from the cover crops and everything we have added.

Why is this so important? This soil is what feeds the vegetables we grow. Yes we still add some fertilizer but the soil is now providing the plants with organic nutrients. All the nutrients are not washing away in the heavy rains because the soil has structure and the cover crops protect it. This is how you grow organically, this is how we protect our soil and our environment. We feed our soil and it nourishes us.

As a female entrepreneur and a new mother, I truly believe women are capable of whatever we set our minds to. Our farm focus on growing high quality natural produce while building soil and creating biodiversity amongst our land. Growing food and raising our son in such a natural holistic environment while he learns about where food comes from is something pretty special, and I hope it encourages other mothers to reach for their dreams to.
