The Brulee (the burn) shows up in fall, any grass around and between rows is eliminated by the truffles beneath the soil. This takes care of competition and they do it well. As your plantations mature, grass will be eliminated through this brûlée. All trees do not mature at the same time, mark the brûlée's to insure your attention is on such areas come harvest time.

March to Sept truffles are forming, and require watering. Not in excess, just moist soil. Remember no commercial fertilizer, bone meal is recommended to enhance root growth. The lightning assists in nitrogen absorption. With symbiotic assistance, the truffles will assist the tree and the tree the truffles, overfeeding may well upset that relationship. Chips/peat cover retain moisture and are a welcome addition in any amendment timing - remember to check your ph - it needs to be over 7.5, add lime gradually to achieve this level. Check again in 6 months. The truffles can tolerate over 8ph though the trees will not!! A slight addtion surrounding the tree each season, as the root sprawl develops into that zone, the ph should show closer readings to achievement. (photo shows the mating of truffles in March) This photo changed the Scientific communities knowledge that truffles could not be cloned, rather through sexual interaction.
