We’re picking at Clam Bay Farm this weekend!

When: Saturday, Oct 15 and Sunday Oct 16

Location: Meet at Clam Bay Farm - 3202 Clam Bay Rd, Pender Island, BC V0N 2M1

Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm (partial days are welcome)

What: Picking grapes involves a lot of walking, bending and snipping.

Please bring your own: water to drink, lunch/snacks, comfortable shoes, hat, and weather appropriate clothing. Gardening gloves are recommended but not required.

We provide snips (secateurs), buckets, bins, first-aid kit, instruction, an inclusive environment and a fun atmosphere.

We are looking for volunteers to come to our vineyards on Pender Island to pick grapes and, in turn, we pledge to donate $10 for every hour each volunteer spends picking directly to the KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest Fund. For more info on the cause, please see our previous post.

Sea Star Vineyard and Winery Call for Harvest Volunteers: Come Pick for Kingfisher Forest

Sea Star is dedicated to conserving the environment and contributing in positive ways to our Pender Island community. This summer, we have been helping the Raincoast Conservation Foundation raise funds for the Kingfisher Forest Project, aimed at protecting 45 acres of endangered Coastal Douglas Fir Forest right here on Pender Island. It has been an incredibly successful campaign and Raincoast is close to reaching its fundraising goal but the clock is ticking as they must raise the remaining 30% of the money needed before December!

To help them meet their deadline, we at Sea Star have decided to dedicate our harvest activities to the cause and invite the Pender community to join us. We are looking for volunteers to come to our vineyards this Fall to pick the grapes and, in turn, we pledge to donate $10 for every hour each volunteer spends picking directly to the Kingfisher Forest Fund.

At the end of harvest, we will gather at the winery to celebrate our coming together in support of the local environment that makes Pender such a beautiful and healthy place to call home.

Now Hiring: Tasting Room Associate

Sea Star is hiring Tasting Room Associates to work at the winery on Pender Island this summer. General duties include sales of Sea Star wines and merchandise, pouring wine for tastings, and maintaining the cleanliness of the tasting room and patio area. An interest in wine is an asset and this is a great opportunity to learn.

Job Type: Part-time seasonal*
Wages: $18/hr
*Weekend shifts and some holidays are mandatory in this role

Basic Mandatory Requirements
- must be 19+ years old
- Serving It Right Certificate
- Must have own vehicle or way of getting to work
- Good physical health and ability to lift 35+ lbs
