We're less than a week away from the highly anticipated Best of the Bench event, and we want you to be a part of it! Hillside is proud to be one of 25+ wineries who have submitted their latest & greatest bottles to be assessed and judged by Master of Wine Geoffrey Moss with one goal in mind - to name the top 12 "Best of the Bench". 🏆

We invite you to join us on Thursday, June 11 at the beautiful where winners will be announced and you'll have the chance to mingle with winemakers and taste the wines that they are most proud of, expertly paired with canapes from the Bench 1775 kitchen.

We’re almost ready to release our highly anticipated 2025 vintage Heritage Series wines, and we want you to join us to be among the first to experience them!

On Sunday, June 14 we’ll be hosting a special offering of our super-popular Heritage Tasting & Tour, with a special focus on Muscat Ottonel, Heritage Pinot Gris, Viognier, Chef’s Whites & Below the Road Rosé 🎉🍷

While tasting through the wines, you’ll enjoy a guided, behind the scenes look at the winery - from vines, to cellar, to tower - learn about Hillside’s rich history of over 40 years in the BC wine industry while getting an up close and personal look at how our 100% Naramata Bench wines make the journey from our vines to your glass.

WHEN: Sunday, June 14 | Time slots every half-hour from 2:00pm - 5:00pm (Reservations are required - tap our bio link to reserve your preferred time)

The elegant elder sister to our Hillside Rosé, this vintage is 100% Pinot Noir, bursting with red fruit flavours + aromas and a go-to food pairing rosé for so many summer dishes!We love it paired with everything from burrata to cedar plank salmon, sushi, or as an addition to your next charcuterie board - the versatility is real with this one💥

May 21 marks Chardonnay Day, and what better way to celebrate this iconic grape than featuring a brand new addition to our portfolio - our 2025 Unoaked Chardonnay! Released earlier this spring, this wine is already becoming a fast favorite by guests, staff, & wine writers alike. The flavour profile is all citrus - juicy pomelo to be specific! 🍊

If you’ve ever been shy about trying Chardonnay - this is the perfect place to start. 👉🏼

Today is World Bee Day! 🐝

Bees may be small, but their impact on the Okanagan is enormous. From orchard blossoms to vineyard ecosystems, pollinators play an essential role in supporting the agriculture and biodiversity that make this region so special.

On this World Bee Day, we raise a glass to our wonderful neighbour, Tim Bouwmeester - Master Beekeeper and owner of Desert Flower Honey! Tim’s farm has a collection of fruit trees & flowers that serve over 100 hives - plus his bees seem to love our Muscat Ottonel! Tim is also a bee inspector & educator here in the Okanagan-Similkameen, which means he travels across the valley to do such tasks as re-locating swarms, monitoring for invasive mites & overall hive health, accounting for over 20,000 hives in this region. 🍯

Desert Flower Honey farm is located directly next to Hillside at 1250 Naramata Road, open daily from 8:00am - 8:00pm for all your honey needs! You can also find him Wednesdays at the Naramata Farmers Market starting in June 🐝🍯

A few fun bee facts:

🐝 There are over 800 species of native bees in Canada, 400 of which are found in the Okanagan-Similkameen Valleys! These include mason bees, sweat bees, carpenter bees & bumblebees

🐝 Bees love dandelions as they are an excellent source of protein Bees do a “waggle dance” to signal to the hive the location and proximity of the best pollen sources

🐝 Bees can visit up to 5,000 flowers in one day Bees love lavender, wild roses, sunflowers, clover & fruit tree blossoms

🐝🐝 PLUS! Did you know that our winemaker Kathy’s Dad, Fred Malone, is a published author on a book called “Bees Don’t Get Arthritis” - an exploration of Fred’s journey discovering the healing properties of honey, pollen, and bee venom!

As you can see, we are big bee fans here at Hillside! Let’s raise a glass to the tiny, fuzzy soldiers that help our beautiful valley flourish!

The people have spoken, and one thing is clear - they LOVE Hillside Rosé! 🌸 At the recently held Okanagan Spring Invitational, part of Spring Wine Festival - guests cast their vote, and we were thrilled to come out on top as People’s Choice Winner! 🏆

A blend of Cab Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir + a touch of aromatic whites - it’s easy to see why this wine is quickly becoming the star of the season! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
