Brighten up winter

03/19/2024

We built a new hen house this fall/winter for our layers. It isn't quite done yet but soon it will be finished.

We have to sell 4,285 dozen eggs to pay off the hen house.

The new structure protects our hens from predators during the night and shelters them from bad weather while still allowing them to be outside.

When it is complete we will post a video and some pictures.

It is an open-air aviary that is twelve feet tall and mimics the environment that would be provided by trees.

Every night the hens fly up into the highest perches and it is amazing.

Beautiful day to encourage our flock to enjoy the last few days of good weather.

Soon they will be homebodies peering out of their coop for December/January. The pigs are considerably more durable when it comes to cold weather.

A couple months ago I fasted for 30 days... only water. I watched a few videos from Dr. Berg to keep motivated. Here is one video just about eggs. This is a must watch for the members of the group.
