The Ultimate Family Pit Stop? We think so.

Road-tripping the Okanagan with kids, dogs, grandparents, or all of the above can be an adventure.

Finding a place where everyone is happy? That's the real vacation win.

Family has always been at the heart of Elephant Island. Long before it was a winery, this was a family farm. My grandmother bought the property in 1972, and it became the backdrop for summer picnics, orchard adventures, badminton tournaments, family gatherings, and all the wonderful chaos that comes with them.

When Del and I started the winery, we wanted to keep that spirit alive.

Today you'll find:
- Slushies for the kids
- Wine slushies for the grown-ups
- A games corner and our much-loved Stuffy Adoption Bin
- A pollinator garden buzzing with bees, butterflies, and discoveries
- A dog-friendly courtyard where four-legged family members are always welcome (And yes, we've even hosted a hairless cat!)
- Sunny spots for soaking up the Okanagan warmth
- Shady spots for lingering over a tasting flight on a hot afternoon

Most of all, you'll find plenty of room to slow down, gather together, and make memories.

Bring the grandparents.
Bring the kids.
Bring the dog.

Everyone is welcome.

🐾 Wags & Wine: Meet Ms. Jackson 🐾

If you've spent any time in our courtyard, you've probably noticed that the dogs are often the real stars of the show.

First up in our new Wags & Wine series is the incomparable Ms. Jackson.

This 5-year-old Boston Terrier is a regular at Elephant Island and can often be found enjoying a sunny patio afternoon with her human, Julia, one of our wonderful wine club members.

Known for her impeccable style, excellent manners, and occasional interpretive dance performances, Ms. Jackson's favourite Elephant Island wine is reportedly our Blackberry Wine. (At least that's what Julia tells us.)

We're pretty fond of both of them. ❤️

Keep an eye on our feed all summer long as we introduce more of the four-legged friends who help make Elephant Island such a special place.

Know a dog who deserves their moment in the spotlight? Bring them by the winery this summer.

One of our favourite things about summer?
Seeing families make memories together.

Family has always been at the heart of Elephant Island. It's why we started this business, why we chose this place, and why creating a welcoming space for families has always mattered to us.

From little feet racing to the play area to grandparents sharing a bottle in the courtyard, some of our favourite winery moments happen when generations gather together.

While parents enjoy a tasting, kids can enjoy the play corner in the courtyard, and perhaps even discover a new friend in our well-loved Stuffy Adoption Bin. 🧸

We know that some of the best vacation memories aren't found on an itinerary. They're found in the small moments: a shared laugh, a family photo, a child proudly carrying home their newly adopted stuffy.

Whether you're visiting for the afternoon or making the Naramata Bench part of your family getaway, we're grateful to be a small part of those memories

Here's to family, community, and another beautiful Okanagan summer together.

Weekend vibes, served daily. 🍹☀️

Cold slushies. Orchard views. Good company. A little sunshine, a little shade, and nowhere in particular you need to be.

Whether you're exploring the Naramata Bench, catching up with friends, or simply making the most of a beautiful Okanagan day, our courtyard is ready for you.

We'll be pouring slushies, sharing stories, and soaking up every minute of patio season.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

Hey... is that the weekend in sight? 👀

We're pretty sure we can see it.

Just beyond the emails, errands, and everything else on this week's to-do list.

A place where the slushies are cold, the courtyard is sunny, the orchard is green, and the only real decision is whether to sit in the sun or the shade.

Hang in there. You're almost here.

We'll see you soon.

Some events are bigger than dinner.

At Elephant Island Winery, we care deeply about local food systems, regenerative agriculture, and the people asking big questions about how we nourish both ourselves and the planet - so being part of Eat the Invaders felt like a natural fit.

We’ll be pouring our 2025 Blackberry Wine alongside a venison dish created by Chef Dylan at EatWild for the event - a pairing that feels especially fitting for the conversation. While the blackberries we use are commercially grown by BC farmers, wild blackberry canes are considered invasive in many coastal ecosystems. A pretty delicious reminder that food, farming, and ecology are often more connected than we realize.

Twelve incredible chef teams. Thoughtful pairings. Invasive and over-abundant species transformed into dishes that are beautiful, delicious, and surprisingly hopeful. And even better - partial proceeds from the evening support Ocean Wiseand Peninsula Streams + Shoreline’s European green crab harvesting program, helping restore and protect BC’s coastal ecosystems.

The event may be sold out (no surprise there), but we highly recommend joining the list at Swallow Tail for early access to future dinners and summer pop-ups. This one is going to be very special.

Cheers to everyone involved - especially the chefs, biologists, growers, harvesters, and organizers helping connect food, ecology, and community in such a meaningful way.

A little something for Wednesday.

BC spot prawn season is here - early May, and gone again before you’ve fully settled into it. Six, maybe eight weeks if we’re lucky.

Around here, it’s more than a season.
My brother spent years out on the water - hauling traps, chasing that short, perfect window.

So when the prawns arrive, we keep it simple. Hot pan. Butter. Garlic.
A splash of wine.

Just enough time to turn them pink - and no more.
Good bread. A bit of lemon.

And something chilled alongside.

Chardonnay if you want texture.
Viognier if you want a little lift.

Either way - dinner, handled.

Beautifully. Locally.

If you’re thinking about getting your hands on some, now’s the time - like all good fresh, local things they have a season. And if you need something to pour with them …
you know where to find us.

Long weekend dreams are officially kicking in over here at Elephant Island - and just in time… the slushie machine is BACK in action for the season!!

NEW this year:
✨ “Make it Dirty” ✨

Take our already delicious lime slush with raspberry framboise liqueur topper and level it up with whipped cream and a beautiful edible flower garnish (grown right down the road ) 🌸

Could it get any better? We don’t think so.

Definitely a must-try this long weekend - pop in and give it a taste!

Stay tuned for more fun slushie flavours coming soon 🍧

What’s with the BEER?! 🍺

If you’ve been around a while, you know lacrosse is part of our story. It helped build Elephant Island - literally.

Del’s time in the National Lacrosse League (and a strong USD 💸) helped turn my grandma’s garage into a winery 26 years ago. And it’s shaped our family ever since.

Our kids have grown up in the game - and we’ve seen firsthand what it gives back so... BEER.

Our friends at the Cannery Brewing are brewing for a cause - helping fund a year-round box lacrosse facility for youth in Penticton + the South Okanagan.
