First time putting the hay up in the loft over the goats - it has been pretty full of nasty old hay which has been getting slowly removed to make at least enough space. It will be such a treat to not have to carry bales through the snow, and the goats should benefit from the additional insulation.

It was also the first time with the hay elevator and with good friends chipping in we made short work of 450 bales. First year it's all unloaded, stacked and stored in the same day. Woot!

Okay. Pretty sure that's it for this year as April has had another beautiful doeling. It's a good life on the farm lately!

Such a fortunate start to the weekend. Heidi last night and April completed our kidding season this morning with another beautiful baby doe. Interestingly enough she has almost identical markings to her cousin Qora. Now to think up A names.

Great job Heidi!! She delivered an absolutely adorable buckling tonight. Beauty markings and with a Nubian mom and pop he's already got ears for days!

WooHoo!! It's an exciting day here on the farm. As I write this the house and barn are being powered 100% from energy produced through our own solar array! Still have to complete inspection before we can push excess back to the grid but for now - and even on a cloudy ish day like today - it's more than enough to keep us humming.

Huge shout out to TLC Solar and Jouste for the hard work and their level of professionalism in all respects. Great experience all around!!

Barn cat math - no matter how you add them up you never quite have enough. Meet the two newest denizens to Hollow Leg Acres. Yet to be named (open to suggestions) these future mousers extraordinaire are becoming accustomed to their new surroundings and barn mates!

It is a FABULOUS morning here at Hollow Leg!! Queenie did a great job delivering two beautiful kids, and the nubian genes came through strong with one of them!!
