The 10 Most Common Water Treatment Questions — Part 6

When should you change your water filters?

Most water filters should be replaced approximately every 6 months, depending on your water chemistry, quality, usage, and the type of system in your home.

Ignoring filter changes can lead to:
• Reduced system performance
• Poor taste and odour
• Lower water pressure
• Less effective filtration

Regular maintenance helps keep your system running efficiently and ensures your water stays clean, fresh, and great-tasting.

Not sure when your filters were last changed? We’re here to help with filter replacements, maintenance, and water testing.

The 10 Most Common Water Treatment Questions — Part 5

What causes sink and toilet stains?

If you're noticing stains in your sinks, toilets, tubs, or showers, your water may be trying to tell you something. Different minerals can leave different coloured stains:

🟠 Orange or Brown Stains = Iron
⚫ Black Stains = Manganese
🔵 Blue or Green Stains = Copper

While these stains can be difficult to remove, the good news is that the right water treatment system can help reduce staining, protect your fixtures, and keep your bathroom looking cleaner for longer.

Not sure what's causing the stains in your home? A free water test can identify the source and help determine the best solution.

The 10 Most Common Water Treatment Questions — Part 4

Why is my water cloudy?

Cloudy or milky water is often caused by tiny air bubbles in your water supply.

Here's a simple test:
✅ Fill a clear glass with water and let it sit for a few minutes.
✅ If the cloudiness disappears from the bottom up, it's usually just trapped air and is harmless.

However:
⚠️ If the water remains cloudy after sitting, it could indicate sediment, mineral buildup, or other water quality concerns that may require further testing.

Not sure what's causing your cloudy water? We offer water testing and can help identify the source of the problem and recommend the right solution for your home.

The 10 Most Common Water Treatment Questions — Part 3

Why does my water smell like chlorine?

If your tap water has a strong chlorine smell or taste, it usually means your municipal water is being heavily disinfected. While chlorine helps keep water safe, excess chlorine can cause problems throughout your home.

Too much chlorine can:
• Dry out skin and hair
• Affect the taste of drinking water
• Create unpleasant odours

The Chloramax Whole Home System treats every drop of water in your home while maintaining the natural minerals in your water.

Benefits of the Chloramax system:
✔️ Reduces chlorine, chloramine, THMs, pesticides, herbicides, taste, and odour
✔️ No salt or chemicals required
✔️ Minimal maintenance
✔️ Designed for municipal water applications

Enjoy cleaner, fresher water from every tap.

The 10 Most Common Water Treatment Questions — Part 2

What is hard water?

Hard water contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium. While it’s generally safe to drink, it can cause a variety of issues around your home.

Signs of hard water can include:
• Spots on dishes and glassware
• Soap scum buildup in sinks and showers
• Dry skin and hair after bathing
• Reduced efficiency of appliances like dishwashers and water heaters

Over time, hard water minerals can build up inside pipes and appliances, leading to costly repairs and reduced lifespan.

Not sure if your home has hard water? We offer free water testing to help you better understand your water and find the right solution for your home.
