Not everyone in our area gets their water the same way.

🏙️ If you're on municipal water...

Your water may come from a local river or lake. It is treated at a municipal water treatment plant, and is tested regularly before it enters the distribution system.

From there, it still has to travel through kilometres of water mains, neighbourhood pipes, and your home's plumbing before it reaches your tap. That's one reason some homeowners choose additional filtration or reverse osmosis for their drinking water.

Your water comes from groundwater beneath your property.

Unlike municipal water, you're responsible for testing your well water. Ontario recommends routine bacteria testing, and additional testing may be worthwhile if you notice changes in taste, odour, colour, or after periods of heavy rainfall or flooding.
