Summer mornings start earlier on the farm. Before the day really heats up, the animals are already busy. The chickens are scratching through the grass looking for breakfast, the ducks are making a mess of their water, and the goats are inspecting every corner of the pasture to see what they can nibble next.

There's something satisfying about getting chores done while the air is still cool. By afternoon, everyone—including the humans—starts looking for shade and taking things a little slower.

The work never stops, but June has a rhythm all its own if you're willing to follow it.

June is one of those months when everything seems to need attention at once. The grass grows faster, water buckets empty sooner, and every animal seems determined to find the one thing you forgot to check that morning.

It's a busy season, but it's also rewarding. The ducks are active, the chickens spend their days scratching through the grass, the goats are browsing every leaf within reach, and the livestock guardian dogs are making their rounds like they own the place.

Farm life doesn't slow down in summer. If anything, it speeds up. The trick is learning to keep pace with it one chore at a time.

One of the less glamorous parts of farm life is maintenance. Feeders need fixing, fences need checking, waterers need scrubbing, and somehow there's always a gate that doesn't quite want to close properly anymore.

The animals don't really care how many little jobs pile up behind the scenes. They still expect breakfast on time, fresh water, and their daily routines. In a lot of ways, that's what keeps a farm running. No matter how long the to-do list gets, the animals come first, and the rest gets worked in around them.

Some days farming feels like making progress. Other days it feels like keeping everything from falling behind. Both are part of the job.

Some of the most memorable things we bake aren’t the most complicated. They’re the recipes that make someone feel seen—a favorite cookie, a familiar cake, a dessert that brings back a happy memory.

Baking for other people is part skill, part observation, and part kindness. The best recipes often start with a simple question: “What would make this person smile?” 💛

Welcome to Baking With Flare—yes, with an E! Because let’s be honest: in this kitchen, there’s as much chaos as there is crumb. From rustic breads to sweet treats (and the occasional flour explosion), this blog serves up delicious recipes, baking tips, and step-by-step videos from our YouTube ...

Every farm has a few unofficial supervisors.

Around here, the turkeys seem convinced they need to inspect every chore. If you're carrying feed, fixing fencing, or moving equipment, there's a good chance a turkey will appear nearby to evaluate your work. Whether they're helping is debatable.

The ducks are busy investigating puddles, the chickens are turning over every patch of dirt they can find, and the goats are keeping a close eye on any gate that might have been left open for half a second too long.

Most days aren't exciting. They're just a collection of small tasks repeated over and over. But that's how farms work. The routine is what keeps everything moving forward.

This rabbit doesn't like me, but I'm trying to change that. At least she didn't bite me this time.
