Countdown to close continues with a look back on a fan favourite: Quattro

Oh how we loved this blend!
Leon Millot, Baco Noir, Marquette, Frontenac Noir. The blend sometimes changed depending on the harvest that year. It was always delicious.

The label was inspired by the feisty card game, Scoba, which would always have our darling Nonno Giacomo or Nonna Maria winning.
I don't know how they did it.....
But you could count on a saucy look and smile; final cards on the table and bam!

We hope you enjoyed the Quattro vintages. It was always fun to put this blend together.

Our last day will be June 27th

Countdown to close continues with look back to our first releases of Pinotage.

Pat fell in love with this grape during a wine tour in Santa Barbara many years ago.

Fast forward to 2010: we were able to locate Pinotage vines and secured cuttings grafted on riperia rootstock.

Our very first vintage was in 2014. I think it was just 12 cases!
We decided to decorate the bottles with a piece of Pinotage cane. A slow process, but gosh, it looked nice!

The next two vintages produced higher yields, but the 2017 vintage was exceptional. High yield, stellar quality. Sooooo good.

We were the first VQA release in Ontario. Pat was so proud.

Our last vintage was 2021. It was lighter bodied that year. A true representation of the growing season that year.

I hope over the years you had an opportunity to enjoy a vintage or two of our Odyssey Pinotage.

Countdown to Close continues with a look at specialty products through the years.

We first created the La Porta. A port-style liqueur using Baco Noir and Leon Millot grapes. It was an instant hit and we decided to move it from a 500ml to 750ml bottle.

Next came the white vermouth using Frontenac Blanc grapes from a lovely vineyard in Shannonville. We further developed this product into a savory taste (think: memories of Thanksgiving dinner in a glass). What a treasure !

Finally, I asked my darling Pat to make me something similar to a Cinzano. He created a red vermouth we called Amici, with a mandala design by our daughter Shelby DG for the label.
Well, we just couldn't keep this one on the shelves. It was one of my favourites.

We experimented with making a few summer drinks for our patio and included a cocktail recipe tag for the bottle.

We had so much fun with these products. I hope you had opportunity to enjoy them, too.
