Here I am, and boy with 5 loaves and two fish, how far will they go amongst so many? 🍞 🐟

I actually don't have any fish, but the new testament parable seemed appropriate today as I've got so many bread orders that I only have 5 little loaves to fuel our storefront to start today.

Plans have to be fluid at the bakery. We had plans for Scones, biscuits, cookies and things, but didn't realize that we'd run out of butter, so storefront treats won't appear until this afternoon, that's totally our oversight and we apologize for any inconvenience.

As for bread and buns, I'm completely at production capacity this week and next week, thank you everyone for all the big orders!!!

I had my first look at my fundraiser this morning and wow, I'm simply beside myself at the outpouring of support from my family and community. I'll make an effort to thank everyone individually too, but for now, thank you to everyone who has donated so far, both online and in person. This community amazes me and I'm so happy to be a part of it!

On to baking... we're finishing off the last of our Saskatoon berries today with Mixed Berry Muffins! Jumbo Sugar Scones pair nicely with our fresh coffee, and Gingersnap Cookies are always a popular favorite.

The weather looks good for grilling this weekend, so come stock up on fresh hamburger and hot dog buns; I've got three sourdough loaves and one onion bread, along with all the regular white, whole wheat, and rye.

But that's not all... we've got discount day old Cookies and Cinnamon Sugar Twists at 10% off, and Cinnamon Buns at 50% off while they last!

Harvest is upon us, I saw it myself yesterday! And as our farmers work hard to feed the world, the Home Bakery works hard to feed our farmers. Fresh Sub Buns, perfect for field lunches, and Cinnamon Sugar Twists make a terrific tractor treat! 🚜

Now, I know how everyone is watching what they eat so just follow my logic here... flour comes from a plant... Sugar comes from a plant... peanuts and oatmeal do, too... so from a certain point of view, a cookie is a user-friendly mobile salad! And we have a full salad bar today: Peanut Butter Cookies, Oatmeal Cookies, and Sugar Cookies.

You don't require a plate, bowl, or fork;
Eat it in the park, at the office, or with pork;
You can munch it in a car, a pew, or bed
The important thing is, we're keeping you fed! 🤪

I need your help. Lifting all these bags of flour has paid off, and last weekend I won a bronze medal in the Manitoba Provincial Strongman Championship, earning an invitation to Nationals in Quebec, September 25th-27th.

This is a great opportunity for me to travel and get to experience a national-level competition while meeting new peers and learning from some of Canada's strongest athletes! What a privilege it is to have been approached by the Grund Church (Canada's oldest standing Icelandic church, just north of Baldur) to bake a batch of Icelandic Brown Bread for their annual Icelandic themed service this weekend, on August 16th!

I was unfamiliar with this bread and naturally jumped at the opportunity to try something new. It's a denser brown brown, made with molasses, brown sugar, and buttermilk. Most of them are for the church order, but I just had to make a few extra loaves for you but only have a few! 🇮🇸 🍞

In other bread news, I made some Italian Herb Speciality Sourdough and tried out a new Montréal Steak Spiced Speciality Sourdough!

And since Cinnamon Buns sold out yesterday by having them early we went ahead and restocked the shelves for you again this morning, they're warm, fresh, and ready to go... 😋

Lots of other breads and buns available today, too, along with fresh coffee, Herb & Garlic Breadsticks and Raspberry Jam-Jam's.

"You gotta give the people what they want!" - Chez Michael Michaels in Blades of Glory.

This shirt really makes my eyes pop; gotta give you some color to break up our fifty shades of brown today, lol.

Chocolate Hazelnut Croissants which pair perfectly with our freshly roasted coffee, are on menu today, along with big ol' Texas-sized Chocolate Chip Scones!

Mixed Berry Muffins offer hues of red and blue packed with fruity goodness and we have those Oatmeal Cookie Sandwiches that you all love so much!

Biscuits for the savory palates, and both Oatmeal and Peanut Butter Cookies are stocked and ready to rock.

Last week I ran out of whole wheat flour so I'm making up for it this week, and have a complete bread shelf for you today as well, with white, whole wheat, and rye.

We'll be open from 11-6 today and look forward to welcoming you back home, at the Home Bakery. 👨‍🍳
