Brown's farm is a family run market garden farm located in Pontypool ON specializing in homegrown seasonal vegetables & cut flowers.

The Brown's have been growing vegetables in Pontypool, ON since 1934 when Don's father, Lloyd originally bought the farm after immigrating from Ireland. Don and Mary Lou and now Kate and Ryan (Westcott) continue Lloyd's commitment to providing the Kawartha Lakes with fresh, local and sustainably grown produce.

The beginnings of a successful potato season 🥔

On today’s crop walk we found some reassuring signs of life.

Our asparagus is out of the ground, the blueberries are sprouting leaves, plus the raspberries and rhubarb are looking very healthy.

Good things are brewing for the 2026 growing season.

Our “stand up” strawberries are planted and going into the greenhouse to start growing!

These are berries that are planted in troughs and placed in an elevation system so we can pick without bending over. They are back friendly and you just have to love that!

What do you think? Shouldn’t all berry picking be this way? 🤔

We are doing a greenhouse check in and I’m happy to report that things are looking FRESH!

New this year - onions! They need a hair cut every 2 days while in the seeding trays. This is done to help build a strong root for transplanting to the field. The hair cuts fill the air with yummy goodness.

So far this season we’ve potted a few peonies to fill in the gaps for ones we lost over the winter and our peppers are well on their growth journey too.

2026 farm season here we come!

A new day has begun and we happy to report that we will be returning from our wellness retreat. That’s right, Foodies, we will be back this Saturday 7am to 1pm. Hope to see you there!

Our Health and Wellness retreat has served us so well that we are going to keep it going for a few more weeks.
