FISHING REPORT: Fishing in the Alberni Canal is getting going with the Chinook and Coho fishing. Anywhere from Polly's Point to the boundary at the Franklin Wall. The Chinook have been holding in the top 70'. Anglers have been using anchovies with green chartreuse and purple UV teaser heads anywhere on leaders from 4' to 8'. White hootchies in the OAL 12R and O2 and O15 pink and red hootchies have been working. Green, red, no bananas or the green chartreuse plaid flashers from Hotspot have been the most popular.
Down in Barkley Sound the fishing has been fantastic at all the usual spots: Swale Rock, Pill Point, Diplock, Kirby and the Bamfield Wall have all had good days. Asits, San Mateo and Rainy Bay have also been holding the Robertson Creek fish as they begin their journey home. Anchovies with blue, chartreuse green and the bloody nose teaser heads, trolled behind the chartreuse extra mirror West Coast fishing tackle flashers, or the purple haze or salty dog flashers have the most popular for down in the sound. ~Colby@GoneFishin'
