Wanna know one of my favourite things to witness on the farmstead?!

Watching chickens forage free range for bugs and grass, for the first time in their lives!
I usually order my pullets(hens)from a commercial hatchery on the mainland(NB/NS) and they arrive at 19 weeks old, just about ready to lay! This means they’ve spent their entire lives inside, until they get to me! They don’t know what it’s like to see the sun, feel the wind or feel the ground and grass beneath their feet!
But that all changes once they arrive here at the farmstead! It usually takes them a couple days to figure it all out, as they don’t really know how to be a chicken! Lol. But once they realize what’s happening, they can’t contain themselves! Running around flapping their wings and squawking! I’m pretty certain they’re saying “OMG, this is amazing!!!” Lol

Happy, healthy hens produce the best eggs you will ever taste! Hens that are caged up or crowded into an enclosure where they receive the minimum amount of space required, are not happy or healthy and they certainly don’t produce quality eggs!
For fresh high quality eggs, find a small farm or homestead and support them instead of the grocery stores who are only worried about mass production and profit margins!

Hey Everyone,

You have to check these out…. Fresh Italian Breakfast Sausage, made by my friends over at Newlander Meat Shop! Available here at the farm in Port Blandford $10 per pack!
The team over at Newlander really knocked these out of the park, they’re soooo goood!!!🤤👌

No worries about missing out on them because there’s no shortage of sausages here! Lol.
Only one flavour so far and they are gluten free!!

I’m also all out of honey till my next harvest, in a week or so!❤️

I’d love to plan a trip to the city and make deliveries like last year, but it takes $200 to fill my truck now, and I just can’t justify it anymore! Unless I charge a delivery fee😔

Hey Everyone,

I’m in need of your help! There’s got to be someone out there that ships pigs from Ontario to New Brunswick!!!?

I have 2 pigs that will be the future of my pork program, in Ontario, but I can’t find a way to get them to New Brunswick! I have a place for them to stay in NB and my friend is gonna pick them up there and bring them to NL for me, but I need to find away to get them to the location in NB….. Are there any livestock haulers on my page or someone that knows someone who is a livestock hauler, could you please reach out to me?

The only other option, is if I know someone in Ontario that could pick them up and ship them out to me with Air Canada….. Would anyone be able/willing to do that?!

I’ve only got another couple weeks to figure something out, before it’s too late! And if you can’t help with shipping the pigs, could you at the very least share this post, in hopes that it reaches the right person!

This post is for anyone who’s sent a deposit for nucs….
I’ve been debating my decision all week and after much thought, due to things completely out of my control, I’ve decided that I won’t be selling any nucs this year and I’m absolutely devastated about it!

The season has been absolutely terrible so far and it has delayed my nucs far beyond my expectation and the bees ability to get ready for the winter. I just can’t, in good conscience, sell anyone bees in August, as I would only be setting people up for failure, due to not enough time for you to get them built up strong enough for the long winter season! I’m so sorry and hope you all understand! I will be reimbursing everyone their down payment. Again, I’m so sorry!😞

Hey Everyone,

‘Garfield’s Honesty Pantry’ is open for its 4th year now!

The fridge is full of fresh eggs and the cupboard is full of lovely honey! Just come by and help yourself! Leave the money in the cup, that’s inside the fridge door or send EMT to [email protected]
The eggs are $4/doz for the month of June, then back to $6/doz on July 1st, and the honey is $12/$20

If you get here and you’re looking for more than is available, just call or txt the number on the fridge and I’ll likely have more inside the house!

Whether you live in Port Blandford, live in the surrounding area of Port Blandford, visiting Port Blandford, camping in Port Blandford or just passing through Port Blandford, stop in and help yourself!!!

Hey Everyone,

Especially the wonderful people of the Burin Peninsula!

Andrew Warren of Warren’s Family Farm, has opened a farmers market in Marystown, in the old government tourist information center across the road from Walmart! As of now, it’s open 7 days a week from 12-4pm and you can find my honey on the shelves! Everything here is locally produced/harvested. He even has fresh lobster and scallops now that they’re in season! Follow his page for details on availability!

So, head on over this week and check it out! Help support your local farmers, producers and harvesters! Your support means a lot to us and there’s many ways to support local, other than buying their products, and one way would be just by liking and sharing this post!

Hey Everyone,

Happy Earth Day! What a better day to announce that I’ll be offering composting services for the entire community of Port Blandford, for FREE!!!
Sign up for our services before May 1st and receive a free 250g jar of honey and a doz eggs!

I’ll also offer to anyone in the surrounding area but you’ll have to deliver it to me! I tried to do it for the Clarenville-Lethbridge-Port Blandford areas and charge $20/month and I would pick it up from you, but no one took me up on that offer!

Here’s how this will work….
I will provide you with the bucket to collect your kitchen waste. We will agree to pick up weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, whatever works best for you. Once we have agreed to a pick up schedule, I will come and pick up the kitchen waste from you. I’ll take your bucket of kitchen waste and give you back a clean bucket, so that you can continue the collection of your kitchen waste. I will keep track of how much kitchen waste I receive from you, so I’ll know how much compost to give back to you!

Let’s come together as a community and help keep kitchen waste out of our landfill and turn it into beautiful compost that we can use to continue the loop of the food system, by turning our food waste into soil and the soil into food again!

Did you know, that up to 40% of our household waste can be composted?! Just think about the difference that could make on our little landfill that we have here in our town! The impact would be astronomical! We wouldn’t have to worry about running out of space in our landfill, our garbage truck would be making half the trips to the landfill saving on fuel costs, our town workers would spend less time collecting garbage on garbage day and able to spend their time and resources elsewhere in the community taking care of other jobs that need to be tended to! Let’s all think about this!!!
