The 8th Annual Apple Festival in Port Blandford, was my biggest sales day to date!!!

I showed up with 22 cases of freshly harvested honey and you sent me home with only 5 cases!!! And then I sold more when I got home! In total, I sold 18 cases of honey on Saturday past!!!

I can’t say thank you enough! Thank you to everyone involved with putting this festival together! From the board members to the volunteers and everyone in town! It’s great to see everyone come together for a season ending celebration! And thank you to everyone that showed up to support me! Whether you bought something or just stopped by for a chat, thank you!
The Bearded Beekeeper doesn’t exist without you, so again, THANK YOU!!!❤️

Sending out an SOS!!!

I got a little piglet here that’s surviving but not quite thriving! She’s only a 1/3rd the size of her litter mates, so I’m making the call to pull her from the litter for a week or so and pan feeding her, to see if I can give her the boost that she needs! There’s just one problem…. I have no milk to feed her!

Is there anyone between Port Blandford and Corner Brook that has any goats milk to spare?! I’m making a trip to Corner Brook and back on Friday and would love to trade someone a jar of honey for a bottle of goats milk!
Let me know if you can help this little piggy out!❤️

Also, I’ve never had to do this before, so if anyone has any tips or advice, I’d greatly appreciate them!👌

See you all at the Apple Festival in Port Blandford tomorrow! We’ll be there from 10-3pm!
I’ll have Honey, Fire Honey and Mild Italian Breakfast Sausages! I won’t have any eggs, as my hens have stopped laying due to a family of foxes that have them stressed out!

I’ll be here at the farm after 3pm if you can’t make it to the market! We’ll be here having a few season ending drinks and getting prepped for the “Concert in the Park”, so stop by the farm and see me! Stay for a drink if you like! Next year, I’ll have a season ending pig roast on the same day! Have Justin Alexander roast the pig while we’re at the market and then have a feast at the farm from 3-7pm and then head up to the park for the concert! That was my plan for this year but I couldn’t find the time lol. Putting it out into the universe here now, so it happens next year!👌

What do I get next?!?!

I’m itching to add the 3rd part of my honeybee themed sleeve but there’s a problem with that…. I don’t have anymore ideas left!!!
So I’m coming to all of you for your ideas on what I should get next! But remember, It has to be honeybee/beekeeping themed!
I have 2 more main pieces and then there’s the fill in pieces! If you have any suggestions, comment them below!

I’m heading out to Corner Brook to see my tattoo artist in October to get these two touched up! I’d like to chat with him about the next pieces then, so I need your suggestions sooner than later!

Cookie was very proud of herself today!🤦‍♂️

Cookie took advantage of me being distracted when I had some visitors show up that wanted to see the piglets!
I didn’t even realize she was out, until we got back up to the house and there she was, with her head stuffed into a slop bucket! Luckily for me, Cookie is just like a big puppy dog and will do what she’s told…. For the most part! Lol. I walked her right back to the pen, opened the gate for her and she went on in, with a big smirk on her face!

One of the many reasons why I rather KuneKune pigs over the traditional meat pigs! Good luck trying to get one of them back into the pen without having to wrestle and wrangle it! KuneKune for the win!👌

Third time is the charm, right?!….. Right?!?! 😅

I’ve got a water/drainage issue that’s been the bane of my existence since I started farming 8yrs ago! I’ve only been able to apply bandaid patchwork to it over the years, much like our wonderful government! But this time the taxpayers(animals) are getting a proper fix, once and for all! The stone drain will be complete after tomorrow and I’ll be able to keep the pig pens from flooding and freezing again this winter! Then with any luck in the spring, I’ll be able to put proper retaining wall block in, to keep the hill from sliding down into the stone drain and plugging it up with silt! I’ll likely have to fix it up again a little in the spring before the blocks go in! In a perfect world, I’d have the block to go in place now and be done with it…. But the block is insanely expensive and there’s no way I could afford to buy them!

Maybe I should start a GoFundMe?!🤔 Lol

Who wants to buy some of this small batch, limited quantity, Pork Tallow?!?!?

Pork Tallow is what you’re left with when you render down the leaf lard and back fat from a pig, for about 24hrs! It’s a highly versatile, heat-stable, and nutritious cooking fat!

Why should we be using Pork Tallow instead of butter?
Well, to be honest, it’s just overall better than butter!

Sundays are for piglet cuddle puddles!🥰

I took some time today to actually stop and take it all in! I laid with the piglets for a while, so mom could have some time to herself and fill her belly! Seeing how the piglets just finished filling theirs with mom’s milk! Piglets are my favourite of everything on the farm, they’re truly the best!

It’s good to stop and take it all in, I need to start doing it a little more often, we all do!❤️

In this video, I sort through my Loop load that I got from the grocery store this week!

What is a “Loop Load”?
Well, it’s a load of food that I receive from grocery stores every week and it’s all made possible by the lovely people over at the Loop - Rescue Food, Rescue the Planet Program! So therefore I present to you, the Loop Load! Lol

What is the “Loop Resource Program”?
Loop is an organization made up of farmers, for farmers! It’s a group of farmers that come together to help close the loop in the circle of food, by diverting food from the land fill and back to farms to be used as feed for livestock!

I take pride in being apart of the program, as I get to help divert the food from the landfill here in Newfoundland and give my animals a diverse range in their diet, in the process! In the 4 years that I’ve been doing this, I’ve managed to divert 35,000kgs of food waste from the landfill and into the bellies of my animals! I can’t even begin to tell you what that would equate to in money saved by not having to buy commercial feed!
