With Easter coming up next weekend, natural egg dyeing is a fun, easy activity to do at home using colours from your kitchen! 🌈🌿🥚 Vegetables, spices, and juice can be used to create beautiful natural dyes.💚

Colour guide:
Reddish-Purple = shredded red beets
Sky Blue = shredded red cabbage
Blue = grape juice
Yellow = ground turmeric
Orange = chili powder
Brown = strong brewed coffee

For vegetable dyes:
Bring 2 cups water to a boil, add 1 1/2 cups vegetables, reduce heat and simmer for 2 - 3 hours.
STEP 1: Strain liquid into a large mason jar and allow to cool for 2 - 3 hours.
STEP 2: Add 2 tablespoons white vinegar and hard-boiled eggs.
STEP 3: Seal the jar and refrigerate overnight or until desired colour is reached.

For juice dyes:
- Pour 2 cups juice into a mason jar
- Follow steps 2 and 3 above

For spice dyes:
- Stir 2 tablespoons spice into 2 cups of water in a mason jar.
- Follow steps 2 and 3 above

Experiment with different ingredients (tea and flowers are some suggestions) to see what colours you come up with. When eggs are dry, you can rub them with a bit of vegetable oil for a shinier finish!🤩

Nothing beats a warm and hearty pot of made-with-love soup simmering on the stove to make a home feel cozy on a chilly day. 🥰

While there are endless recipes for soup available in cookbooks and online, it’s easy to come up with your own spontaneous creation just by using up what you have in your fridge. All you need are a couple of basic ingredients on hand, like vegetable or chicken stock and spices, and the rest is up to you!🧑‍🍳

Start by chopping an onion and saute on medium in a large pot with some olive oil or oil of your choice. Then continue to add chopped vegetables, starting with the ones that take longer to cook, such as carrots. If using dry spices, throw these in now so they can release their flavours before liquid is added.

Continue adding all your ingredients and top with 3 - 4 cups of stock or water. Add softer veggies, like kale, and any fresh herbs, closer to the end of cooking time. You can also add beans, pasta, rice, or whatever you like once the liquid is boiling. Simmer on low until cooked through. Season to taste and serve with fresh bread. Enjoy your creation! 😋
