Old Gesner Homestead Creating a healthier lifestyle by growing our food without pesticides/herbicides, and sharing any extra when we can.

Between 2012 and 2014 both of us were diagnosed with cancer, and decided it was time for a lifestyle change. After many discussions with family & friends, we began our search for a small family farm. In 2017 we sold our properties in Newfoundland. In August of 2018 we made the big move to the beautiful Annapolis Valley, and into a bankruptcy on 5 acres of neglected land. We contemplated tearing do

wn the big old house until we learned its history. That this house was built approx. 1785 and is the birthplace of Abraham Gesner (the man who saved the whales by inventing kerosene), among many other significant accomplishments! And so...the labour of love began on the 'Old Gesner Homestead'.
