While the season is now over, and we are starting cleanup, we have also been busy getting ready for the Powassan Maple Syrup Festival this Saturday.
We will have a booth downtown, or you can take the bus from 250 Clark to the farm where we will have tours and taffy available.

We are open all of Easter weekend, including Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Weather permitting we will have tractor tours available.

It may once again be cold (it took most of yesterday to have unfrozen sap to boil) but it sure is pretty in the sugar bush.
We will have tractor tours through the sugar bush for the remainder of March break, then weekends only for the remainder of March and April. We also have taffy on ice, and should you like, we also have taffy tubs and cones available at the store.

We now have freshly bottled 2026 syrup on the shelf, just in time for March Break. Beginning this Saturday we are now open daily 9-5, with tours available throughout March Break and weekends for the months of March and April.

Please join us for the Annual First Tapping event on Saturday, March 14th at 1 pm at Matthews Maple Syrup - 239 Ski Hill Road. Refreshments will be provided by the Powassan Scouts, who will bbq hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage on a bun. Weather permitting, there will be wagon rides through the sugar bush. As is also the tradition, there will be taffy on ice.

With this current warm spell, we can now say that the 2026 season has begun.
This weekend, despite some technical difficulties, we managed to make over 1,000 litres of maple syrup.

This coming weekend we open for the season, with tours and taffy on ice available throughout March break and then weekends only for the remainder of the syrup season.
We are open daily 9-5 for sales.

One more task is done ahead of this coming syrup season. Having begun at the beginning of February, we are now done tapping our trees (with the exception of our buckets).
The dogs are missing the extra time in the sugar bush, but now it’s back to the kitchen to make the sugar shack smell delicious. This morning I packaged up some maple sugar candies.
