Saskatchewan could be in for a warmer-than-normal fall, according to Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips.

Phillips says September, October and November are expected to trend warmer than normal, with September potentially feeling like an extension of late summer.

The transition into winter could also be slower and relatively mild, with fewer prolonged periods of extreme Arctic cold expected early in the season. However, Saskatchewan can still experience cold snaps and winter storms.

Despite the warmer outlook, typical fall rain and moisture are still expected through the autumn months.

Seasonal forecasts describe overall trends, and actual conditions can vary throughout the season.
