💚 It's never just about the olive oil and vinegar.

One of the greatest joys of opening our doors each day is getting to know the incredible people who walk through them.

Today, one of our lovely customers surprised us with fresh herbs from her garden and a jar of her homemade Caesar dressing after we'd spent time chatting, sharing recipes, and talking about all things food during her visit.

The herbs and dressing are wonderful, but it's the thoughtfulness and connection behind them that truly touched our hearts.

When we took over the shop just a few months ago, we hoped it would become a place where people felt welcome to linger, share ideas, swap recipes, and connect over a love of good food. Moments like this remind us that it's becoming exactly that.

To everyone who has stopped in over the past few months—whether for a tasting, to discover a new favourite, or simply for a chat—thank you. Your stories, kindness, laughter, and enthusiasm have helped make Olive the Good Things feel like so much more than a shop.

We've got a new one worth pulling up a stool for.

Meet **OKAZU by Abokichi** — a small-batch Japanese miso chili crisp made right here in Canada with organic miso, sesame oil, and no shortcuts. It's the kind of condiment that turns "I guess I'll just have rice" into an actual meal.

We're carrying all five flavours, and yes, they're all sitting on the tasting bar:

🌶️ **Chili Miso** — the original. Rich, savoury, just enough heat to make things interesting.
🔥 **Spicy Chili Miso** — same umami depth, turned up. For the "bring the heat" crowd.
🍛 **Curry Miso** — warm curry spice met its match in miso. Incredible on eggs or avocado toast.
🌿 **Sanshō Miso** — that tingly, citrusy Japanese peppercorn kick. Ramen's new best friend.
🫚 **Ginger Miso** — bright, zesty, a little punchy. Our pick for grilled fish or chicken.

Spoon it over rice, stir it into noodles, dollop it on eggs, brush it on grilled meat or tofu, or just eat it straight off the spoon — we won't judge, we've all done it back here.

Have you tried the Artisan’s Way chocolate bars yet? 🍫

We just got a fresh restock and it reminded us why we’ve been fans of these bars for years.

Long before we owned the shop, Artisan’s Way was one of those brands we’d seek out whenever we came across it. Based on BC’s Sunshine Coast, they craft organic chocolate in small batches using fair-trade cacao and thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and the quality really shines through.

What we love most is that each flavour has its own personality. Some are rich and intensely chocolatey, while others lean into fun combinations like Raspberry Pistachio, Maple Crisp, Coffee Crunch, Superfood, and Coconut Mylk.

And yes... we’ve tried them all. 😅

If you’re already a fan of their chocolate, don’t overlook the jars on the shelf. We also carry some of their stone-ground nut butters, peanut butter, tahini, and coconut butter. Rich, creamy, and the kind of thing that somehow finds its way onto toast, fruit, oatmeal... and occasionally a spoon. 😉

Some products become shop favourites because we stock them. Others get stocked because they were already favourites. Artisan’s Way definitely falls into the second category. ❤️
