Our Story
Howdy!! and welcome home:) We're located on Vancouver Island in the heart of Hilliers, ten minutes from the beautiful beaches of Qualicum Beach, BC., and we’re building a dream:) People like to say we’re “Homesteaders”. I like to laugh and reply, “No, we’re just crazy, lol!” In May 2017, we started with 40 acres of trees. Just trees. Roughly 25 acres of older growth and 15 acres that had been a Cottonwood plantation. Lots of trees! In perfect rows. No Hydro, no wells, no septic, no buildings, no nothing. Just perfect rows of trees. Are you getting the picture, lol?
We essentially started our farm in the forest, carting the water for the animals in everyday in 5 gallon jugs. Using solar powered electric fencing (which we still use).
Our dreams are slowly becoming reality:) In only a couple of years since we first “broke ground”, we have all the modern amenities and roughly 8 acres cleared. We offer quiet, peaceful and private camping spaces all year round. We almost always have firewood available for sale. And, we have the best pork in town! And of course, all of our hams and bacon are always 100% NITRATE FREE!
Our non-gmo Heritage pork is rotationally raised through pasture and forest. That means that when they’re done foraging through an area, I set a new fenceline and they’re moved to a new spot to explore. VERY different from most “pasture raised” pork that lives it’s whole life in one small pen and COMPLETELY different from anything you’d buy at the grocery store.
