Meanwhile fly will literally just take herself home rather than try to jump over something.

Last minute workshop announcement!
Learn the basics of reading a sweater pattern and
Fair Isle knitting with Wednesday, February 11 and Saturday, February 14, here at the farm
ā€œ In this workshop, you will learn how to read and understand a Fair Isle sweater pattern. We will walk through the basics of material selection, getting guage and ensuring the correct needle size, to understanding ease and size adjustments. We will use Isobel Kraemer’s Humulus and Dianna Walla’s
Sundottir patterns.
The most challenging part of knitting a sweater is getting started. It can be a truly daunting task. This workshop will give you the tools you need to get going with
confidence!
Basic knitting abilities are required - cast on, knitting and purling. That’s it! This class is for beginner and intermediate
knitters.
We will start by knitting a swatch and practicing simple Fair Isle techniques.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday evening and Saturday during the day. Online help will be available following the workshop
as drop-in sessions where you can ask
questions and chat.ā€

If you know me, you know that I have cared about people and been distrustful of arbitrary authority since long before having social media or being a farmer. I am not ā€œjust waking upā€ to all of this. I generally save my non farming opinions for face to face conversations. I think real life interactions *obviously * have more impact than a meme or a repost, and I do my best to maintain relationships with my very diverse friends and family without stoking the culture wars. There are many many accounts far more articulate than I would be, plus I’m just farming.
AND ALSO it is wild to me when people assume that because I raise my own food and use herbal remedies that somehow translates into believing dehumanizing propaganda about minority groups of people.
I hate politics, not in a don’t rock the boat kind of a way, but in the way where I cannot stand when caring about people’s lives is reduced to a political identity.
I wasn’t trying to write an essay, or talk about myself this much. If you want to talk I’m here. If you’re local and this is relatable let me know. Find me offline šŸ’•

A beautiful and fulfilling day, that included some hard moments and tough choices.
Sorting out our flock as we move into the colder weather is a great opportunity to get a good look at everyone, but it also means making some difficult decisions on who will be staying with us through the season. Looking at some of my favourite old girls this afternoon, I knew it wasn’t fair to put them through another winter. Culling is never easy, but this round was particularly hard for me as these ewes have been with me through much of my journey into becoming a farmer and shepherd. Sometimes there’s no easy way to do the right thing.
Their contribution to the farm will live on through their daughters who are valuable members of the flock, and through the nourishment they will provide our family.

It’s been a great summer for the sheep, and we have several beautiful lambs we would love to get into your freezers before winter comes. Our next south coast delivery will be October 11th, with local pickup and delivery from Prince George to Prince Rupert available by appointment.
Ps, if you want farm updates without the social media doom, sign up for our newsletter. I send emails out every 1-3 months but try to include all the important stuff like sales, delivery dates and cute animals šŸ’•
