Our story is a blend of two worlds: A cozy little town in the Cariboo and picturesque Tanzania. 'Kahawa' in Swahili translates to coffee, and Cariboo Kahawa is our bridge between our cultures that’s shared with you in every cup. Our mission is to support local farmers in Tanzania and across the globe, ensuring ethical and sustainable coffee practices. While we may be a little biased. There is science that backs it up that yes it is good news 😊

Let’s break it down ⬇️

Coffee beans are a plant. 🌱 coffee beans grow as cherries on the plants and these little cherries contain antioxidants!

Not all coffee is equal- Higher quality beans ( usually from local roasters) can make a huge difference in just how many health benifts your going to get from a cup.

Freshly roasted beans usually retain more aroma compounds and beneficial polyphenols, while better sourcing and roasting can reduce stale and burnt flavours as well. Think shopping local- fresher- higher quality sourcing.

Light-medium-roasts often preserve more of coffees key antioxidants ( good thing we never over roast our coffee- even our darker roast Cowboy Coffee is roasted with care to a higher temp while preserving the integrity of the bean)

Polyphenols benifts 🤎 help reduce oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals that can damage cells over time. Can reduce inflammation, benifts for heart health,brain health and gut microbiome support.

Tanzania Peaberry beans have officially returned, and we couldn’t be more excited. If you didn’t know this is our signature roast and it can be one of the most difficult beans to import mostly due to crops and travel logistics.

The world is so heavy right now. We can all feel it. As we head into Family Day weekend here in BC, our hearts are all extra weary. We join so many others in mourning the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge—one that hits especially close to home, with children the same age as the victims. So incredibly heartbreaking. While we are also still raw from the loss of our 14-year-old nephew this past fall we know all too well that navigating tradagedy is not easy and their is no road map on how to do it This makes Family Day weekend especially difficult. We encourage everyone to take care of themselves and one another, and reach out for help when needed. ❤️
