Have you heard the news?! We’re building an orchard! I’ve mentioned it a few times on stories but let’s make it official ☑️
This spring we moved our raspberry patch and our haskaps from the garden and gave them more room to spread out and thrive. We’ve been consulting with Jesse Matthies from Revive Soils here in town to hammer out a plan to build up the soil structure in this old pasture. We picked up some compost extract from him earlier this evening and that’s what Dan is applying in the photo.
Our hope is to be ready to go for next spring so we can start to get more trees in the ground! It’s got the best view on the property and it’s going to be such a fun thing to see come to life.

We’ve been working with Jesse
@ Revive Soils over the last year to develop a plan for the orchard / food forest we’re building. Jesse’s vast knowledge of the soil is so inspiring and we are very lucky to have him as a local resource to help us on this project!

✨Winter Stuff✨Lots of rest, lots of organizing, lots of play in the snow! We’re slowly making plans for the seasons ahead, ordering seeds and chicks and figuring out how to fit farming into our life instead of the other way around 🙃
