Did you know that not only is sourdough starter good for breads and baking. You can use the discard to thicken cream sauces and gravy instead of making a roux?
Tonight's dinner consisted of bacon fried and the fat mixed with onions until soft. Some sourdough discard, heavy cream, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, parm cheese, broccoli and fettuccine noodles! Hint of pepper and garlic powder as well.
I cant wait until the garlic in the garden is ready. Fresh is so much better!
Make sure you incorporate the heavy cream slowly to the roux or sourdough discard to avoid lumpy bits!
