GrainHenge

GrainHenge GrainHenge Whisky is a celebration of the mysterious synergies created when people and ingredients are brought together with curiosity and consideration.

Every bottle brings together the elements of grain, wood, water and time interacting with people and the prairies to transform into something special. Proudly represented by Troubled Monk.

The fields are planted, the drills are slowing down, and another prairie season is underway.

There’s something timeless about this part of the year in Alberta- days growing longer, the smell of freshly turned earth, and the quiet understanding that the work you do now becomes something worth gathering around later.

There’s something quietly familiar about this one. Meeting Creek 04 has arrived.

Meeting Creek 04 opens with soft vanilla and honeycomb on the nose, layered with hints of chocolate and warm biscuit. On the palate, caramel and citrus lift into notes of cocoa, honey, and a restrained thread of coffee that lingers long after the sip. Smooth and composed, yet constantly shifting — warming in the glass reveals subtle fruit and baking spice, while a few drops of water draw the darker chocolate and coffee notes forward.

There’s a certain hush to the prairie just before seeding begins. Fields standing ready, grain elevators keeping watch, the whole landscape holding its breath for the first pass of the season. Some lucky hands got rolling yesterday, but for many, this is the pause before the great beginning. A quiet kind of energy moves through places like this—anticipation, patience, and generations of knowing what comes next. Soon tractors will trace their lines across the land, seeds will meet the soil, and another season will be set in motion.

Just when the land had started to hint at spring, Alberta reminded us who still holds the final word. A late April snowfall settled across the fields, softening every furrow and fence line in white.

While many of us were ready for green grass and warmer days, this kind of moisture is received differently by those who know the rhythm of the land. Snowfall like this can mean welcome replenishment- soaking slowly into the soil, restoring what winter winds carried away, and offering promise for the season ahead.

For the barley and grains that will soon be planted, it is the quiet beginning of another story already underway. And there, standing watch above it all, the grain bins remain like prairie sentinels- steady against the horizon, patient through every season, waiting for the fields to rise again and for harvest to return their stores once more.

Easter has come and gone, and with it, the quiet promise of what’s ahead.

These bare Alberta fields won’t stay still for long, soon they will be turned, seeded, and set in motion once more.

Another season, another story, another harvest, and another future batch of whisky in the making.
