Our 1st ever gladiolus offering has arrived -
a small, thoughtful collection of three varieties chosen for their refined colour palettes, romantic form & timeless garden presence.

Blooming in succession along tall, elegant stems, gladiolus offer both height & softness to the late summer garden while cutting beautifully for romantic, hand tied bouquets.

This is a LIMITED release, a gentle introduction to what I hope will become a much loved part of Whistling Prairie Flowers - link in profile and stories 💛

End of March. This week we turn the calendar over to April, where everything feels new & exciting and possible. Weeds aren’t a thing (yet) and while we won’t see any blooms in the coming month, the beginnings of what’s to come will surely show their faces. I live for this time of year 🌱

Sweet Pea Cold Steel

Yay? Or Nay? Personally I am completely obsessed with this one so am growing it out again in 2026 for seed but I’m curious if this is one you’d love to see in our shop next year as well?

A little glimpse of what I’m planting this week 🌱

We’re just 8 weeks from our last frost now so in the greenhouse, I’m starting our bee balm, Echinops, ornamental grasses, Feverfew & Jewels of Opar

and now that our snow cover is gone? I’ll be direct sowing our hardy annuals like bachelor buttons, poppies and sweet peas!

the days are getting longer and honestly Spring this year feels like one giant exhale for me…

The last few days of high winds, above average temps and sunshine meant the last of the snow & ice quickly dissipated and the first signs of true Spring have finally arrived. Our honey bees are active (they survived their first Winter!), the ladybugs are crawling over everything, the robins returned, the first of the daffodils and tulips have pushed thru the soil & a quick peek in the peony field confirmed my suspicions as I giddily revealed the first signs of the peonies coming back to life as well. Spring feels magical, doesn’t it?!
So much possibility….

There’s a (very) warm wind blowing, the robins returned over night and the greenhouse is coming to life again. The anticipation of Spring is palpable 🌱 I don’t think I’ll be spending much time indoors from here on out…thank goodness!
