SME Family - the Series

Another member of our family is Ben, one of the familiar faces you'll meet as a hiking guide at the Durrand Glacier Chalet. He's been sharing his passion for the mountains with our guests for the past three years, leading our guest through the stunning alpine terrain.

Ben is originally from the UK (who doesn't love a good English accent!). He moved to Revelstoke four years ago and has fully embraced mountain life.

If he could choose any superpower, it would be the ability to fly—mostly so he wouldn't have to hike or climb back down the mountains he regularly conquers.

His love for hiking began in his younger years, thanks to the adventures with his dad and brother in the French Alps and the mountains of Wales. Of course, when he wasn't out exploring the trails, you could usually find him being the cheeky chap featured in the last photo… perhaps after enjoying one drink too many!

Another beautiful few weeks in the books!
The snow has melted out, and the flowers are poking their heads out, wanting to say hi to our beloved Guests. We are thoroughly enjoying the summer so far, and by the smiles on everyone's faces, it looks like our guests do too!

Working as the logistics manager in town, I just get to see the groceries I sent up. Somehow those groceries turn into these beautiful plates of balanced meals, created by our chef Carl.

For your inspiration and imagination, we have the following dishes:
1- Chicken with Pea puree, lentils and baby squash
2 - Sushi stack
3 - Raspberry Almond cake with Red wine poached pear and lemon curd (I'm hungry now!)
4 - Squash and ricotta rotolo crip, with sage brown butter.

SME Family - the Series

Welcome to meeting our staff! We're proud to say that the SME staff feels like Family. Each and every one of our members have a special place in their hearts for the Durrand Glacier Chalet and the beautiful BC mountains.

This is Dana

Dana's love for hiking brought her to BC from Ontario in 2015 and she has never looked back. After spending some time living in and exploring different mountain towns in BC and Alberta, Dana settled in Revelstoke with her Mexican rescue dog Bert. She has all the qualifications you need to be the best hiking guide we can wish for. Dana also started her own hiking guiding company based in Revelstoke called Hikerevy. You can find her on Instagram

Tomorrow, we welcome our first guests of the summer season! ☀️

We can't wait to spoil them with incredible meals from our talented kitchen team—from freshly prepared sandwiches and homemade treats to delicious grilled dinners.

This summer, we're proud to be sourcing our greens locally from Firstlight Farm and Terra Firma Farms . We're so grateful to be surrounded by such an amazing community and to share the best of our region with every guest who joins us.

July 1st is a special day. On Canada Day, we're reflecting on how fortunate we were to find this remarkable corner of the Canadian wilderness and fall in love with it.

The Durrand Glacier Chalet was founded in 1985, inspired by the beauty of these mountains, glaciers, and forests. Forty years later, we are still exploring these landscapes with a sense of wonder and gratitude, and continue to discover something new around every corner.

We gratefully acknowledge that the Durrand Glacier Chalet lies within the unceded territories of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, and Syilx Nations. We respectfully honour their peoples, cultures, traditions, and enduring connection to these lands.
