Sometimes, the sweetest moments are the simplest ones. โค๏ธ๐Ÿท

Yesterday, Lavender was enjoying some extra attention from Tom at what turned out to be our very last mobile petting farm event.

Watching her completely melt into those scratches made me smile. ๐Ÿฅฐ And somehow, it feels like a fitting little moment to capture as we close this chapter.

After much thought, we've made the difficult decision to step away from our mobile petting farm adventures. What started as a way to share our animals with others has brought us wonderful memories, connections, and so many opportunities to share a little joy.

But perhaps this isn't the end of The Healing Farm's story. โค๏ธ

We're hoping to find the right person who would love to take over The Healing Farm as a complete business package, including the established business and page, equipment, and many of our animal friends. We'd love to see what we've built have the opportunity to continue in someone else's hands.

It's a bittersweet feeling, but sometimes we reach a point in life when it's time to let go of one chapter and make room for the next.

For now, we'll hold on to the memories, cherish the animals, and see where this next chapter takes us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported The Healing Farm, booked visits, welcomed us into your events and celebrations, and followed along with our little farm family. It has meant more than you know. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŒฟHERBS, TRADITIONAL WELLNESS & TAKING CARE OF OUR BODIES๐ŸŒฟ

Thereโ€™s a reason herbs have been used for generations in traditional wellness practices. Some of the herbs we commonly hear about are traditionally associated with supporting digestion, the liver, and overall gut health.

A few worth learning about:

๐ŸŒฟ Milk Thistle โ€” traditionally used to support liver health and antioxidant protection.

๐ŸŒฟ Slippery Elm โ€” known traditionally for its soothing, mucilaginous properties and often used to support digestive comfort.

๐ŸŒฟ Licorice Root โ€” traditionally used for digestive and stomach comfort. (It isn't appropriate for everyone, particularly in larger amounts or with certain medications.)

๐ŸŒฟ Marshmallow Root โ€” another mucilaginous herb traditionally used to soothe the digestive tract.

๐ŸŒผ Calendula โ€” valued in traditional herbal practices for its soothing properties.

๐ŸŒฟ Triphala โ€” an Ayurvedic herbal blend traditionally used to support digestion and regularity.

๐ŸŒผ Dandelion Root โ€” traditionally used to support digestion and healthy liver function.

But here's the important part: natural doesn't automatically mean harmless, and more isn't always better. Herbs can interact with medications and may not be appropriate for certain health conditions, pregnancy, or other circumstances.

And a little disclaimer from the farm: โค๏ธ

I am not a doctor, naturopath, herbalist, therapist, or other healthcare professional. I share things I find interesting as part of my own interest in traditional herbs, homesteading and natural wellness. This is for educational purposes only and isn't medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Do your own research, and when in doubt, talk with a qualified healthcare professional before using herbs medicinally.

๐ŸŒฑ Sometimes the best wellness journey starts with simply becoming more curious about what nature has to offer.

๐Ÿ My October Bucket List ๐Ÿ

โ˜ Take a fall drive with no particular destination
โ˜ Find the prettiest tree and take a picture of it
โ˜ Walk through crunchy leaves like a kid again
โ˜ Have a bonfire on a cool October evening ๐Ÿ”ฅ
โ˜ Drink something warm while wearing a sweater
โ˜ Bake something that smells like fall
โ˜ Spend a little extra time with the animals ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“
โ˜ Get muddy at least once
โ˜ Pick pumpkins ๐ŸŽƒ
โ˜ Take way too many pictures of the fall colours
โ˜ Watch the sunset before the days get too short
โ˜ Let the animals convince me they definitely need another treat
โ˜ Buy something I absolutely did not need because it was โ€œfall themedโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚
โ˜ Do absolutely nothing for an afternoon and call it rest
โ˜ Make at least one memory worth keeping

And somewhere between the chores, the muddy boots, the chilly mornings and the beautiful sunsets...

โ˜ Remember to actually enjoy the season. ๐Ÿ‚โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ‚ A little autumn self-care challengeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‚

Sometimes self-care looks like a quiet walk, a cozy night in, a warm drink, getting outside, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down for a bit. ๐ŸคŽ

So I thought this little Autumn Self-Care Bingo was too good not to share.

How many of these could you check off this month? ๐Ÿ

And if you get a bingoโ€ฆ I think that calls for a little extra celebration. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which one are you choosing first? ๐Ÿ‘‡

A quieter morning on the farm... โค๏ธ

Last night, we said goodbye to all our laying hens and roosters. Our guinea fowl and turkey have also moved on to new homes, leaving just our two ducks and Silkies as part of the petting farm's feathered crew.

This morning's chores felt a little different. A lot quieter, actually.

I think the ducks noticed it just as much as I did. They wandered around, looking here and there, almost as though they were searching for all their feathered friends. Watching them made an already emotional morning just a little harder. ๐Ÿ˜ข

It's amazing how much life and personality a flock of chickens brings to a farm. The familiar sounds, the daily routines, the little characters who greet you every morning... you don't realize just how much space they fill until they're gone.

As we continue making changes here on the farm, there will undoubtedly be more mornings like this one. Change is never easy, even when you know it's time.

For now, I'm just going to miss the noise, the chaos and all those little feathered faces. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“

Thereโ€™s something about early mornings on the farm. โค๏ธ

The sun peeking through the trees, the animals going about their morning routines, and those few peaceful moments before the day gets into full swing.

No rush. No noise. Just a little morning magic and a reminder to appreciate the simple things. ๐Ÿ‚โ˜€๏ธ
