🌀 Just some of the Indigo dyed shawl design from this past summer - 100% organic cotton dyed with 100% natural indigo.

💙 All of these are made by my guests! I have them the design inspirations but most of them went ahead with their imagination. As a workshop teacher or as I like to call myself, experience guide, the best feeling is when my guests come up with designs I've thought or seen before. And I think it's because leading up to the moment of designing their pieces, I have them at home first and that being out here surrounded by nature they felt safe to "play".

✨ I heard someone said, "Creativity is not skill, but an ability to play." And here at LOURDES | Natural Dyer 🇵🇭, you can.

2️⃣ Last two Indigo Dyeing Experiences at the farm available for booking - Oct 24 and Nov 22.

🌕 I've been talking and making art about the moon and I'd like to share where it all started for me..

🌱 Indigo taught me to shift my creative practice from extractive to collaborative, marking the beginning of my work called 12 Dips of Blue.

🙂 I felt disconnected from my craft at the end of 2024, after a busy market season. The pressure to be productive really got to me. But at my last indigo dyeing workshop that year, which happened to be on a full-moon weekend, something clicked about what I could change in my natural dyeing practice to reconnect with this ancient craft.

🌀You see, Indigo requires a few steps of preparation before dyeing with it, and the following year, I followed nature's rhythm. Instead of dyeing with Indigo whenever I want or need, I only do it around the full moon.

☀️The work felt easier and, most importantly, enjoyable again.

🌕The 12 Dips of Blue represents 12 circles for the 12 full moons of the year. 12 dips in the indigo vat to get a dark shade of blue.

🌌This astrological event invites us to look inward and celebrate the fullness of life. To remind ourselves that we can take a moment to be grateful for our wins in life and recommit ourselves to projects, causes and relationships that mean the most to us.

🪄All this sounds witchy-woo woo, and I love it. Tag a friend you think will appreciate it!

🚙 I went on a little roadtrip yesterday to pick up walnuts for dyeing at Rudy and Matt of Matt Jenkins and I left feeling inspired 🍂

⚒️ These two are incredibly talented and generous to show around their house, garden and studio. I heard about how they met, stories about the land, their current project and their dreams for their business.

🍂 Manitoba is full of creative folks and amazing artists-entrepreneurs that I feel so lucky to call some of them friends.

🎁 Find us among other artisans in November at CRAFTED Show and Sale Gallery Shop at WAG-Qaumajuq at the WAG-Qaumajuq

⏩ And follow Matt Jenkins if you haven't already!
